This is getting lost...

This is a good spot for beneficial TAKEAWAY #2.

People with a hobby or an interest seek out websites and forums in the furtherance of that hobby.
I belong to sites and FB pages about the motorcycles that I own, long distance motorcycle travelling, the truck that I own, guitar playing, audio recording, architecture, homebuilding, construction, songwriting.

I argue with no one about anything anywhere...except here.
My FB page stays clear of politics and incendiary topics. I lost contact with a 1st cousin that I have always had affection for, simply for diplomatically stating that I voted for Trump. 8th deadly sin.

People are invited to join various sites that may appeal to them.
This site promises a songwriting community if you join.
People such as me assume that will be accepting and pleasant.
But what people repeatedly find out, after they join, is that trolls are allowed free reign to insult at whim.

They learn that politics and religious topics which I consider to be guaranteed arguments are part of the landscape due to, what I considered to be, a misguided adherence to a misguided and misapplied interpretation of the 1st amendment.

Case in point...this thread.

This thread started as an ask-for-donations. Totally legit endeavor.
But then a non-troll registered a complaint about the trolling and acrimony that goes on here.
Then the owner of the site bashes the non-troll for that.
Then I state that the non-troll has a legit concern.
Then the owner bashes me and references the 1st amendment and "CK."

AND THEN...the trolls get the scent and descend on the pile.
Troll #2 looks for a quick hit and destroy.
Troll #1 rattles on and on.

So, the beneficial takeaway...
If you are a newcomer, expecting a cordial and accepting online community here...this thread is a fairly good representation of what is actually allowed to go on here.

QUESTION: Has the 1st amendment actually been served and maintained here? This is a good spot for beneficial TAKEAWAY #2.
