Has anyone here built there own circuits for pedals and instruments? I've been interested in doing this for quite some time, and I'm hoping to maybe find a friend on here that could provide some pointers in the future. Let me know if you're interested. And if you don't have the time for that, but you have some stories or quick tips you'd like to impress, I'd like to hear those, too.

There used to be a few electronic kit companies, Heathkit and Eico if I remember right. Maybe some others. However they are and may be no longer in business. I built a Stereo Receiver and some T.V. sets as well as some test gear. You may still be able to suscribe to magazines that feature building electronics from scratch. Do a Google search.

Thanks Ray. I'll see what I can find online. I also just ordered a book on the subject, so hopefully that helps. We'll see, haha. I looked at building circuits one time before and was a bit intimidated by it... but also very intrigued and inspired.

and just lurk for a while. There are some serious audio electronics hackers there and I'd say I learned as much from them as I have anywhere else.

If you can find some old Guitar Player mags from the late 1970's and early eighties there was a long running article by a guy who provided diagrams and instructions for building an array of electronic paraphenalia. I believe his name was Craig Anderton.

I'd forgot about Craig Anderton. His Electronic Projects for Musicians book is still in print, though it might be a bit dated, still Craig does a fine job of explaining things.

I design and build a lot of my own stuff, particularly tube guitar amps. You could check out the "Rants And Raves blog" on my website for articles on some of the stuff I've built, fixed, or modified. More should be coming in the future.

Hi Brian... I build & use my own pedals almost exclusively. Pretty cheap, easy to put together and the modifications you can make to the circuits are pretty much infinite. Plus, there's the pride factor that comes with a gear head asking you about your stuff as you climb off the stage. Very cool.

Anyway, the best place to start, for me anyway, was at http://DIYstompboxes.com ... they have tutorials, circuit designs, layout designs, photos, all kinds of stuff. Jump in man!
