You should be able to use Skype if you have a good internet connection and talk almost free from computer to computer. I know lots of Skype users..

Polly, your lyrics were straight from the heart and wonderful. I can't wait to hear the music as well. Why do you think there are so many songs about love, it's because of the pure inspiration that comes as a result of this feeling and force that our heart's can't help but proclaim through words or melodies or even on occasion, dancing feet!

Lynn, thanks so much for the kind words of encouragement. I know I suck, that's why I don't post my songs here (although there's one I think might be good...back in my girl-angst days) but you're right about what I wrote...it was straight from the heart. Corny because right now, I'm so happy I can't think right much less write right! I'm used to bittersweet songs...I do write from my own life, but I'm still so high on Andy I can't really adjust...unless I want to write for Miley Cyrus! I want to thank everyone who came on here and showed their support. Andy is the most wonderful man on the planet, and I'm the luckiest woman to be having a relationship with him. We've got some challenges ahead of us to get him here for good, but I know this is right and I will move mountains for him. That's just how I feel. I just want to make him happy...that would make ME happy. He's the same way. You put two "givers" together, and you get a win-win situation. Yes, we'll write some beautiful songs together...I'm sure of that. So Nashville friends, we'll head down that way mid-July, pencil us in, and maybe even be able to stop in Atlanta, Wendy. I'll try to squeeze as much as I can into his stay (it's really up to HIM) as we can. (((BIG HUGS TO ALL)))

Hi Gang,
Congrats to you guys for finding each other. I was lucky enough to get an email from Linda on my birthday 10 years ago saying hi and I responded. She had seen my profile on AOL and on a lark sent me a note. She didn't know it was my birthday and when I responded and asked her if she wanted to do something that night since it was my birthday, she responded no.. she was working that night. We didn't even meet in person until months later when I was off the road (I used to be on the road nearly year round in the early days of Just Plain Folks) and then only 1 more time before the end of the year when we spent New Year's Eve 1999/2000 together at party/event with her Sister and friends. I can't imagine my life without her. JPF would most likely not still exist without her support and involvement and imagine the ripple effect if none of this were around. So I guess you can kind of thank Linda for sending me a coincidental email on my birthday 10 years ago because it led directly to you two meeting on this very message board! It's a real life example of the Butterfly Effect in action. = )
Whatever comes beyond the excitement now is just a bonus. Always remember that. And if you ever have kids, I think JP Folks might be a good first and middle name! = )

We're not having kids Brian, but we DID discuss getting a baby pot-bellied pig and naming it Andy Jr. Oh yeah, I told Andy if he marries me he can have a puppy too! We're both huge animal lovers. Bob, you'll love this guy, but you've met your match in the shot department! Scottish people are born with an extra liver. Anyway, thanks for looking out for me. You're a good friend. You're right Stan, the smiling one is much better. Thanks Michele...it really has been an amazing time so far. To Michelle 67, you just never know...I wasn't ever expecting to meet anyone.

And to find out that Brian himself met his partner like this is just amazing.

How cool for you two to meet like this... may there be lots of happiness for the both of you. And lots of inspired (co-)writing, of course! Just keep the cheesy love songs to a minimum, ok? cheers, Jim.

Polly, that lyric rocks. Being in love becomes you.
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Tricia, thank you so much! Andy insists that he likes it, but I don't feel it's good enough for him. I'd like to write something deeper. He's writing something for me. He's such a beautiful man, inside and out, he deserves something great. Well, he's got my heart and soul...that'll have to do for now.

Thanks, Captain Obvious, for the inbredded song! J/K! I would have chosen something more romantic, but we can be the "Hager/Dinnell set". My fave Prine song is "In Spite of Ourselves". "...in spite of ourselves/we'll end up sittin' on a rainbow. Against all odds, honey, we're the big door prize! We're gonna spite our noses right off our faces/but we'll have big ol' hearts dancin' in our eyes..."

It's nice to see an actual picture of Andy now...I'm a bit new here and didn't know what he looked like. This is such a romantic story that I was tying to picture the two of you together...and I just saw Polly with her beautiful blonde hair and sweet smile with a pencil drawing Andy. But, now I can picture it and I think you look very cute together. Congratulations!

Hey Polly, my wife and I got MARRIED to that damn song! {In Spite Of Ourselves}and it's turned out to be quite prophetic! And I must agree that Andy looks much better in the flesh than the pencil drawing that looks like an outtake from the "Aqualung" album.

Hey you two lovebirds,
It seems like I probably ought to add a personal note to you two to let you know that these things really CAN and DO work. Back in the early days of JPF, I actually met fellow lyricist Corky Bernard right here and we shocked our pals by ending up getting married also!! I believe we were the first but definitely not the last to find our soulmates on this very forum. I was living on a ranch up in the mountains of Colorado and he was a Southern-born city boy living in Atlanta. We had both been considering relocating to Nashville and after about a year of corresponding and talking on the phone...decided we were probably compatible enough to rent a house together (to share expenses) so decided to meet in Nashville to check the place out. Well...after actually meeting...we discovered more than friendship...and the rest as they say...is history.
Like you...we had both been down the matrimony road before and had decided that marrying again was NOT in the cards. Well, love has a way of changing things. <G> We had four incredible years together before I lost him to a heart attack. As folks here will attest...that guy was certainly one of a kind!!!
A lot of folks here got to meet both of us because we started hosting an annual songwriters event here...called Pineyfest. I do hope you will let me know when you plan to be in Nashville. I would love to meet you and get together while you are here. I do know a few folks here LOL..and a few of the haunts you won't want to miss. My ancestry includes Scotland (maybe Andy knows of a place called Ferguson Castle)..though I did not get the chance to go there when I was in the UK.
Big hugs and hopes for your life together! Bobbie

Great news guys!
BTW Polly that's a nice lyric. I have a feeling we'll get to hear it one day.
met my wife in a psychiatric hospital. Our 1st date was the last time my '64 MGB ever ran. I guess it knew it was history.

LOL @ Bob! I kinda have a thing for guys with that "Dirty Jesus" look, yannow? There's a song title...Bob I'll bet you could write it. Hey, so what was the most prophetic part of the Prine song? "...Well he ain't got laid in a month of Sundays/just last week I caught him sniffin' my undies/he ain't too sharp but he gets things done/he drinks beer like it's oxygen..." Is that what your wife would nod emphatically to? Bobbie, that was such a great story. I'm sorry that you lost him. Yes, we will definitely take a road trip to Nashville while Andy's here. I'll guess we'll start a new thread as this one will probably be buried by then. Thanks again to all...and yes, I've got music with the lyric I wrote...just have to find someone to play on it and record it with me.

Polly just reminded me that it was ME who turned her on to JPF in the first place, so indirectly I'm responsible for this situation...You two BETTER work out now, otherwise I'LL look bad!

At the end of our drunken conversation (NEVER take on a Scotsman in a drinking contest) I asked for his phone number and we spoke by phone.
Anyway, we have been inseperable ever since, phoning, e-mailing, sending pics. The morning after our "drinking contest"...I held my breath...seeing if he would e-mail me. He did, and asked if he could call me. I knew, right then, we were on our way to falling in love. I knew from the first time I heard his voice, that I was "home". Hmmmmm, I've heard all this before from other people. I hope yall have a good time this summer.

Don't worry Bob...everything's going to be fine. We just skyped today for 4 hours straight, and it felt like maybe half an hour. Eb, I'm sorry your relationship ended sadly. I can only say with Andy, I've experienced more happiness in the past month than I can ever remember. If anything happened, and we weren't together after all (which I don't see at all) at least I had this wonderful experience that has already changed me in so many positive ways. Thanks, Noel. We feel pretty solid. Not a doubt in either of our minds. The more we skype, the deeper we fall in love. It's pretty amazing. I wrote this song for him two days ago, it just came to me. I posted it in the lyric feedback forum but thought I'd share it here too: Making Calls To Scotland Verse 1: Making calls to Scotland Just to hear your voice Caught up in a lover's mire As if I had a choice Living in the heartland Trying to believe In my dreams and hearts' desires One day to receive Chorus: Now I see the way..... Giving in to your promises Holding on another day Now you're on your way..... Caving in to the dream called love Taking a leap of faith Verse 2: Making calls to Scotland My time - 2 a.m. Laying in a broken sweat Trying to breathe in Desperation owns us Seeps into our veins Crying out for eachother's arms Damn beautiful pain. (Chorus) Bridge: Stranded 'cross an ocean Still we love as one Driven by devotion Hanging on, holding on, for our day to come Verse 3: Lonely in Ohio Fighting back the tears Wishing there was a reason To prove to me you care Nothing good is ever easy And in the end we see Love is all that matters We were meant to be. (Chorus) One month to go, folks!
