The Songwriters Workshop holds its next monthly session on Saturday, February 14, 2009. Our topic: “Basic Principles of Hit Songs.” We’ll reveal the three basic principals of hit songs, when to apply to your own music, and how you can use them to break the “rules” of songwriting. For the rest of the workshop, we’ll present and critique each others’ songs in progress.
Experienced and beginning songwriters are invited to listen to each other’s songs and share their comments about lyrics, music, structure, and other aspects of the craft and business of songwriting. Songs may be played live or presented on CD. Participants should bring 10 copies of their lyrics for feedback notes. Please try to park somewhere other than in the bookstore parking lot.
The workshop will go from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Tsunami Books, 2585 Willamette. Call Rocky Montenegro for details at 345-1956.
