Just got two new LDC microphones. The first is a Soundeluxe ifet7. It's really two mic's in one. In "V" mode, it immulates a Nueman 87fet for vocals, in "I" mode it immulates a Nueman 47fet for instruments.
The second mic is a Brauner "Phantom C" It's a fet mic made by a famous German mic builder, Dirk Brauner.Spent the last couple hours doing some acappella vocal's to get a feel for how they sound. OH MY GOODNESS! both are rich, lush and incredibly detailed. I 'm very pleased!
Had to tell someone. When I shared it with my wife, I got a "that's nice dear" The mail man gave me a very unsatisfying blank stare and when I shared my enthusiasm with the gardner, he quickly backed away......nobody seems to grasp the "wonderfulness" of the moment!

Yeah.. spouses rarely understand! I am looking forward to getting a great new mic once we move and I can set up all my gear. You should post some audio samples when you have a change.

Many years ago, my first wife and I were struggling to get along on a night club musicians pay.
It was tough sometimes, but we were getting by.
I never spent much on gear..just had a couple of guitars and an amp..just enough to do the gig.
Anyway..an ad appeared in the local paper.."Very old electric guitar for sale"
I called and got the address and went to the guys house...
He pulled a beat up old case out from under the bed and opened it.....
There was a 1949 Gibson es 175 (first year of production)..Natural finish (the rarest of finishes for that model) and two p-90 pickups.
The guitar was dead mint..obviously bareley ever played.
Way back then it was a $2000 dollar guitar easy !
I asked the guy how much he wanted for it..
"Well....."..he sez...."I won it in a card game in place of a 50 dollar pot"....
I looked at the guitar and said.."I'll give 25 dollars"
Minutes later I was racing home screaming in joy !
I ran up the walk and blasted thru the front door..
"LOok...loook...can you believe it, honey?...and..it was only 25 bucks!"
My wife looked at the guitar...then looked up at me and said.."you paid 25 dollars for THAT OLD THING !?"
Deep in my heart, I knew the relationship was doomed....a couple of years later I was serenading my second wife with that guitar.

Great story, Bob. I once bought one of the original Gibson Firebirds from the owner of a motel who had accepted it in lieu of payment for a motel bill. I gave him $60 for it, and made us both quite happy.
