Bob, I read this right after Bobbie posted it, before it had any replies. I treated it like any other lyric I see. I thought it had a dull hook and delivery. it didn't make me smile or do anything else. believe me, if it had had one decent line or idea, I'd have smiled wiiiide. listen to my own basic blues songs EZ Does It, Rough and Tumble and Memphis Funk and see if I don't like to have fun. or read my recent blues lyric Moonlight Prowler.

after 40 replies i thought I'd have another look see. I had a listen to the mp3. it didn't do a thing for me. now if everyone else on here likes it, good for them. but it's unfair to say there's something wrong with my attitude because I didn't "smile" at this below average song. this is a lyric CRITIQUE board, if you don't want your work to be taken seriously, don't post it or at least say not for critique, just for smiles. that lyric of Dawg's yesterday was totally incoherent and all over the map. at least to me, and i should be free to say so on a lyric CRITIQUE board, as long as i do so respectfully. whether it goes against the crowd here doesn't matter to me at all.

you mention the Pogues...I love the Pogues. have a listen to Fairytale of New York. that song is a crack up. it's got great lines and great rhymes and a good melody. there's no comparison between Shayne McGowan's material and this ultra basic blues.

Bob, I think you take ME too seriously. I just said the song was dull. if you disagree, you disagree. it won't hurt my feelings one bit.

Thank you so much, Bob. I never did properly tell you how much I love your music for this. It may not be everyone else's cup of tea, but for a lyric that had no pretensions, I am delighted that so many folks seem to really enjoy it. The folks who read and comment here on JPF are probably fairly representative of the "general public"...and there have to always be a few at either end of the spectrum. From a lifetime career in management, I learned not to waste too much effort trying to please the fringes, cause it just can't be done. In the music business, some folks will always have their own agenda. You expressed my sentiments pretty clearly here. You can do music for any of my stuff any ol' time you want.

Now this is listening mans Blues. And Man am I listening? I tell ya. THis is what live music is all about. And i haven't even listened to the words yet. Just the song.
Not one phrase clangs anywhere to draw the attention away from appreciating the whole.
Great piece of entertainment . That's my two bob's worth. Well a Bob and Bobbie, but let's not get picky about it.
