SHUFFLED OFF TO BUFFALO:

Well, I wandered down to the Buffalo Showcase on Friday to see how the whole thing is done. A great time was had by all and I
was able to meet the Buffalo Co-ordinator, Michael Meal and JDrury who physically organized all the miscellany in the instrument
department. This, of course, is the most complicated part of the process. It requires having someone in the group who is a band so
that things like drums, keyboards, etc. can be previously set up. Then there is the necessity of a sound system of fair size so that people can plug in their guitars, etc. And, finding a venue that can handle all this. So if Toronto Chapter wants to do a showcase, there's a lot of detail that would have to be handled. Many hands though make less work.

THE BIG EVENT:

Here's a repeat of my blurb as a reminder for all of you about this week's, first ever, Toronto Chapter meeting:

The first meeting will be Wednesday, May 21st - 7:30-10:00. The location is the Urban Cafe, 8763 Bayview, Units 1&2, Richmond Hill, ON. The Urban Cafe is on the east side of Bayview just north of Hwy 7 in Richmond Hill. Tel: (905) 707-1311

The owner is Diana Harrop and she's all excited about hosting meetings.

Our guest speaker is Jodi Krangle from www.musesmuse.com. Check out her website it's great. You should also, for those of you who haven't, check out the Just Plain Folks website at www.justplainfolks.org. If you are not a member, please sign up while
you're there, prior to the first meeting. Feel free to bring as many newbies to the meeting as you can find.

The format for the evening will be:

7:30-8:30 - Speaker & Q&A
8:30-10:00 - Songwriters Circle

There will, of course, be a signup sheet for the songwriters circle. Each performer may do 2 songs and the order of performing will
be according to the sheet. Performances need not be live. There is a CD player for those of you who may not want to drag out
your instrument, i.e. keyboard players or for anyone who has someone else vocalizing their stuff or whatever. It's pretty free and
easy. I'll be bringing mikes and a mixer to hook into Diana's speaker system so we can surround ourselves with sound.

Feel free to email me with any questions. See you there. It going to be great!
