It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.

It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?

A question, or two, for the Clickateers.
Do you:
1. Do you not give it much thought, and just sorta zen your way through each day when you log on to click with a reference?
2. Do you ever find yourself, at any given hour, suddenly have your brain accost you with free-flowing Click-mania ideas? So many ideas that you wanna stop what you're doing and write 'em all down?
3. Re: number 2...Do you actually stop and write them down for future use, or do you let 'em free-flow in and out and hope your grey cells function well enough to remember one or two when appropriate?
"Hey, Midnite", I hear you saying, "Why do you ask?"
Thanks for asking....Here's why...This isn't the first time it has happened, but it's the most recent, and I have an hour to kill before the day cools off enough so that I can mow the yard without worrying about a heat-stroke:
I was on a job site this morning, and while on hold with a remote "help desk", logged on via my cell phone and voted. The most recent "amusing ourselves to death" reference seemed to be Herman's Hermits references.
While on hold, I tossed in my Herman's Hermits reference, but it took me three times before I finally got it right....Thankfully, my "hold time" with the "help desk" was 45 minutes.
My first attempt, was "Farmer Brown" you've got... My first edit, was "Mister Brown" you've got... My final edit was "Mrs. Brown"......Whew, my mind was finally at ease:-)
The "help desk" eventually answered and I was done with the job a half hour later and headed home.
Heading home meant an hour and a half drive, during which time, my grey cells accosted me with an attempt to follow my initial train of thought, and came up with:
Hey Farmer John, I'm in love with your clicker.
Well you've heard about the Jolly Green Clicker...
You my, my brown eyed click.
It was Mrs. White, in the library, with a clicker.....Apparently, I was in a "color" scheme mode...And then:
Hey hey, we're the Clickees...
Buddy Holly and the Clickets...
I better stop now, I've got to save some for future use.
But I, my humble self, didn't want to write them down while going 70 mph on the freeway...
This has also often happened, for no apparent reason, at 3:00 a.m. when I get up to pee...
So, getting back to my initial questions...What is your method?
Hi. I'm Bob. I'm a clickaholic. It has been three hours since my last click.
Thanks for letting me share.
Midnite

Bob,
I am glad you felt comfortable enough to share your private thoughts with these folks, your friends and fellow clickers. We have a program to relieve you of these ideas at midnight and it has 12 steps that you must go through with your companions. But first you must click willy-nilly to your heart's content. And always for Rosewood Creek. You have completed step 1 by opening up and sharing your addiction with your fellow clickers. Step 2 is to simply accept that clicking is of major importance and creates value and substance for the world to enjoy.....after all, how else would Rosewood Creek get their music heard?
And never forget the Dave Click Five.....

I know why the caged bird clicks
Midnight Bob, I approach clicking with no planned response. If a see a theme started, I sometimes follow it. Otherwise, I go where the whim takes me, usually music related. This AM I heard a robin outside the window and the above quote came to mind. I don't have to do this, of course. I can quit any time. It's not like I'm addicted or anything, ya know? I don't have to be here. I'm totally in control of this clickuation.

I always think a little click before posting...sometimes a lot.
I'm glad this caught on. We used to do this all the time...substituting a word into common phrases or into every line of a song. I think we started with Pinball Wizard many years ago. The approach was stupider the better. So I do try to be somewhat creative and I absolutely have some come to me "obliquely" during the day. Sometimes I remember the next day, sometimes not. But no matter.
All in all it turns something routine into something more...and injects fun and creativity into the process. I always look forward to what others come up with.
If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop
