Some of that language is designed so the contest can play your song on their website, put it on "this years' winner" CDs, and in general be able to say that "this song" was a big winner in our contest, without having to pay you for it.
That said, the language seems overly broad (does not limit the use of the song to promotional materials for the contest), and consulting a lawyer was a good idea.
