Kaley and all,

The majority of songs that are "ballads" on the radio are in the mid tempo range. A few:

I've Had Moments
Wind Beneath My Wings
Give me Wings
Yesterday
Don't Let The Chain of Love End With You
Drift Away

There are many of them. They have movement and usually a very identifiable hook or melody. Usually a very singable chorus. The most important aspect of them is the way the chorus "Lifts up" the entire song.
That is what determines a "ballad" which is a generally slow, plodding song, and separates it from a "Power ballad" which is a powerful chorus, medium in tempo, yet has forward movement.
