Hi Folks!

I live out in the Southeastern Michigan area, near Ann Arbor and Detroit. I've been playing bass since the great lizards walked the earth (well, OK, over 30 years then), and mostly play RootsRock, Jazz, Blues and the like, though I've done the Top 40 thing and a bit of orchestra too. Right now I play in a Blues/Soul band on weekends, and go out on tour with a guitarist named Michael Katon once or twice a year. I'm always on the lookout for other gigs (weddings and bar mitzvas you know ;-)), but they're kind of thin on the ground around here right now. I do a lot of studio work, both for my own stuff and for friends (recently did the bass tracks for The Ragbirds, a great WorldMusic project), I really enjoy studio work.
My basses consist of an altered Fender Jazz, a custom-made Fenderlike fretless, a Jay Turser Hofner knockoff, a mystery Rick 4001 knockoff (probably a 70s Ibanez), a Kawai FB (not unlike an Alembic in looks and tone), and an old German factory upright.
I use a 4/10 Hartke Cabinet, and either a Gallien-Kruger 400 RB head or an old solid-state Marshall 200 watter. For smaller gigs I have a Hartke Kickback.
I do some multi-instrumental songwriting stuff on my own CDs under various pen names (my real name is Todd Perkins) that you can listen to if you have the inclination at the website below. Boy, that's a lot about me! I agree, it's good to have a forum for the rhythm section. Us guys in the back, we're holding it all together!
