Guys,
If you didn't like the clip/film, why spend a single moment posting or submitting? With half the US screaming to censor everything said by the other half (and their own more and more often) the last message the creative community should be sending is to curtail someone else's speech/art (a film is both) because you don't like it or even that it offends you. What a horrible way to respond. This is a super low budget film... common sense should tell anyone that it's likely an entry level effort. It would be like a new writer looking for help with their album with no budget, you'd likely not expect the work to be top notch but if you decided to offer to help on the album it would be ridiculous to complain about it not meeting your standards for any reason and really inappropriate to openly attack it. It's really disappointing to read some of the comments. If you aren't interested, move along... perhaps there's a baby seal you can club elsewhere.
There are plenty of people who would be happy to get a film credit, let them get their chance and wish them well. Brian, I'm finally getting back to JPF after a busy two weeks or so. I was partly surprised that this post turned as it did and I appreciate your post, Brian. I understand that everyone has an opinion about this film and things in this world. The way you put it, is exactly right. If you don't like what you watched, don't spend time dealing with it. The kicker is, this is a comedy. Nothing in the movie is real. Lisa and Tony are not having an incestuous relationship. It's all humor and if anyone reads beyond that, they are creating something that does not exist. I have music supervised over 90 films and they span across many genres and subjects. "Old Fashioned" was a faith based film that did well in theaters (for an indie film). It almost grossed $2M. There were critics of this movie saying that the lead actor was overly "Holier Than Thou" and no Christian man would be like him. Some said that all men should be like him. It was released the same weekend that "Fifty Shades of Grey" was released so you can imagine the pros and cons of both movies were high. The first film that I music supervised in 2004 was written by my former wife and current friend. It was called "The Spin Cycle" and was about a girl named Candy who runs a Laundromat and had a fetish for guys in wheelchairs. She would have an "encounter" with these guys at her Laundromat while sitting on a washing machine during the spin cycle. There were negative opinions about the film but it did very well in the film festival circuit. The only song in the film was "It Must Be Love" by Don Williams. The publisher, Universal Music Publishing Group and the label, Universal Music Enterprises both read the synopsis and did not have an issue with granting festival rights. I am a Christian man with morals. Just because I work on a films like "Call Me Brother" or "The Spin Cycle" does not make me an immoral person. So, let's let art be art and appreciate the efforts we all put into our respective crafts.
