Hi, I am new here so I do not know where to post this.
I am an audio/video engineer who has taken on managing my friends all girl band.
A few weeks ago I found out that all the girls would be off of work for between April 13th and April 21st, So we started planning a west coast tour. 7 years ago I got pretty far into booking my own band's 40 show US tour, it was tough work but doable because of my method.
Back then on myspace you could search for bands by location, and genre, see if they were active, and then message 250 of them a day (message limit). Myspace is a very strange, ugly, and unusable place for me now. Their music section just looks like a billboard rip-off, with none of the old search options.
Now I am spending all my time craigeslisting, and emailing/calling venues day after day with very little results. Final cut pro and Pro tools 9 combined are nothing compared to the difficulty of booking just these 9 shows
I just bought "Indie Band survival guide", and it lead me to these forums for help.
Please tell me what section(s) I should post in to get help with booking this tour: April 13th LA CA (BOOKED) April 14th San Fran CA, April 15th Reno NV, April 16th Redding CA, April 17th Portland OR, April 18th Seattle WA, April 19th Boise ID, April 20th Salt lake city UT, April 21st Vegas NV. (BOOKED)

Well, that's not much lead time to book anything decent I am afraid unless your band is:
1. Amazing (which is a high bar) 2. Has a fan base in those towns making it worthwhile for a venue to book you so you'll not be playing to an empty room 3. Offers the specific music for the specific crowds that frequent the venues.
I spent the last 15 years setting up massive tours where we featured over 18K artists in hundreds of cities, including most of those mentioned above. But we could (and did) fill every venue we booked and folks loved us. You didn't offer up links to the bands music, tell us who they are, what genre they play, if they do covers or originals, how much touring experience they have, what their stage show is, how much stage gear and space they need, if they have their own sound set up and engineer or if they need the venue to supply all that, if they are playing for free, like at open mics, or expect to be paid (on this short of notice, good luck with that) and if so, how much. We'd need to know how many local fans you expect to show up at each stop. etc. Basically, you need to give us something to work with if you want help. I am not sure how the info above would allow anyone to help you out. So come back, offer some more info and perhaps we can offer some suggestions/strategies to get some of those dates covered. Why is the band located?
