ANOTHER COWBOY SONG--ONE DAY ALL THE COWBOYS WILL BE GONE--I TRY TO KEEP THEM ALIVE A WHILE LONGER--EXCEPT HERE TWO DIE--OPEN FOR COMMENTS--
RUN COWBOY RUN ©2010 Mackie Humphries
V1 I didn’t know Kitty was his lady Coming on strong talking low and sexy With my bottle of whiskey almost gone Her sweet cooing just turned me on.
INTERLUDE His gruff voice echoed “Back off from Kitty”.
V2 He slapped leather and grazed my knee I took aim fired, he fell by me Everybody pointed you’ll be hanged Our Marshall’s dead, he’s been slain
PRE-CH My heart raced I ran for the door. I heard voices and a loud roar
CH1 “Run Cowboy run - you won’t get far You can’t shoot first - and ride tomorrow. Run Cowboy run - you’re wanted now You have just shot - the Marshall down Run Cowboy run - better leave town.”
BR As the sun set I headed south By the Rio Grande a shot ring out The pain was deep close to my heart Posses’ words faded.......INTO DARK.
CH1 “Run Cowboy run - you won’t get far You can’t shoot first - and ride tomorrow. Run Cowboy run - you’re wanted now You have just shot - the Marshall down Run Cowboy run - better leave town.”
TAG “Run Cowboy Run............... Run Cowboy Run.........……”

I love a good cowboy song! When I think of Kitty it reminds me of Gun Smoke with James Arness. Mam I'm really giving the age away now. Wasn't there a Miss Kitty in there somewhere? Best of luck with it Mackie

Always was a sucker for a cowboy song, this one has all the elements necessary for a good one...when the gunsmoke cleared, the options were few, hit the trail and flee from the hangman's noose.~~~MFB III

Hey Mackie,
Solidly put together. Look forward to hearing this one once you get it recorded. Has all the flavor of a good Western.

NOTHER COWBOY SONG--ONE DAY ALL THE COWBOYS WILL BE GONE--I TRY TO KEEP THEM ALIVE A WHILE LONGER--EXCEPT HERE TWO DIE
Mackie, You had me laughing before I got to the lyrics! You GOTTA try harder to keep the cowboys alive.
If you had shot down Kitty's Marshall Dillon in the 50s or early 60s, the posse would have hung you instead of giving you a bullet. A bullet would have been too quick for the outlaw who laid Marshall Dillon low.
I enjoyed this one. I also liked the old cowboy shows. You always had a good story about good guys and bad guys and the bad guys always got it in the end. In fact, this is a lot like the old cowboy shows. Probably why I liked it. Write on, Mackie!!!!

Dan--
I still watch the old westerns--I have a lot of old "B" JOHN WAYNE MOVIES I get ideas from those and the old B & W Tom Mix Pictures--When I was a kid--HEY, I was at the movies--LIVING THE COWBOY LIFE--had my cap pistol with me!
Thanks for reading this one and having a LAUGH!

Mackie
