**************************************************************************************************************
NOTE: This is the older one from this summer. here's the newer one: Little Bit of Loving II
**************************************************************************************************************

This is actually song 50/90 song #2, but the first one isn't done yet (ha, ha). That one is a co-write with my nephew, Sam, with him singing and we decided to make a fuller production of it.

OK, enough about the song that isn't here. I wrote this one on July 4th, but I came up with the hook line a week or two ago -- and then I set it aside and saved it for 50/90. I wasn't quite sure where it would go, but I like it well enough. As always, re-writes are allowed.

One mic -- two guitars and two voices -- one track, no overdubs. I don't think I telegraphed the key change as well as I should have to Sam. I am using the band name Park Road for the songs with Sam this 50/90.

It's still in a "worktape" stage.

Kevin

Little Bit of Loving or here at 50/90 (in case soundclick is down).
(c) Emmrich 2011

(chorus)
She don't make me wonder
she don't make me wait
a little bit of loving
goes a long, long way
yea, a little bit of loving
goes a long, long way

(verse)
Way down south where the magnolias grow
How did I get so far away?
I must have turned left
when I should have turned right
so I'm heading back home tonight, cause ...

(chorus again)

(lead section)

(bridge)
sun's coming up
another day closer to you
i wonder what the future will bring ... but ...

(chorus again)

Kevin: vocal, nylon string guitar
Sam: harmony vocal, acoustic guitar

Kevin, I like the melody to this song. And the words fit the melancholy music. Sounds like a good song to me. Real good effort by the two of you.

Kevin,

It is a nice sounding song, I really like the chorus and verse melody, but I thought the bridge could have stood out more with a twist of some sort.

When you get further along with the song, it would be nice to have upper and lower hamonies to make the chorus richer.

Just my opinion, but it is sounding good!

Hi again Kevin

well the hi fi - still did not work but lo fi does

I have not listened to one of yours in a while.... and man -- you are really improving - this is a great first work tape on this. The chorus melody and writing are really working for me already -- I like the arrangement and your singing --yes the key change is rough - the guitar work needs some smoothing - but I can tell it is working no matter. Good work - I will look forward to hearing another round. jm

Kevin,

I like this song a lot. I know you will get back to it and record it with the key change done correctly - but don't forget, because it is well worth it.

I think this is a great start to something special but it needs tightening up. Not talking production--that'll come with proper tracks recorded--but the arrangement of the song. You need another verse in there to anchor the story. THEN go into another chorus/bridge OR solo then you could come way down on the last chorus and build it up.

Really liked the melody Kevin. Nice work.

Very nice, Kevin smile

I'm with Zeek - think it needs another verse. Beyond that, I think the vocals and timing just need tightened up a little. Not that it's bad - it has the feel of a live performance to me, which is cool. But it could be tightened up some for the studio version imo. smile

Really like this one.

You have a live one there Kevin, once you tidy it up. I would agree another verse would help.

Dan: Thanks for the visit and for the kind words about the melody. Melody is not my strong suit, so it is always nice when someone mentions it!

Tammy: Hello there. I plan to revisit that bridge section and see if I can beef it up a little. Thanks for stopping by and giving it a listen.

Joice: I'm glad you got to listen -- I might have to listen to the lo-fi version and see what that sounds like! I have found that if I actually practice a song, I can actually sound better on it (imagine that!). I do need to work on that key change, for sure.

Colin: I won't forget. I'll definitely be doing a multi-track version of this. I still need to work out a couple of kinks, though. Thanks for giving it a spin.

Bob: Always great when you get a chance to stop by. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comments. I hope all is going great for you.

Zeek: You haven't been here long, but you have made a positive impact on the site in your short time here. I tend to agree with you (and Scott) on the need for "something more" -- but I am not convinced yet that I need another full verse. But I will try it out and see what happens.

I'll come back for the others a bit later (or tomorrow).

Scott: Yea, it could use an extra something -- I'll have to think on that for awhile. Thanks for stopping by.

Calvin: Thanks for the kind words -- I am working at it (well, slightly -- I am still a little lazy).

Michele: It's is always good when you visit and leave comments. I hope you are getting over that flu (finally!!). Thanks for the listen.

Vicarn: OK, three votes for another verse, what's a slackard to do? I guess write another verse. Thanks for the visit and comments.

Stevie: Thanks for stopping by and giving it a spin. Always great to see you around.

Kevin--

I think you can make this IDEA into A KICKER--I hear it faster and with a KICK-A** spirit on the gas pedal--Maybe a brooding HARP or gettin' It On Fiddle--COUPLE MORE VERSES OF WHATCHA LEFT DOWN SOUTH!

Good luck working on this one!

Hi, Kevin!

I agree with the majority... needs another verse. But I love this melody, and that Chorus has a real catchiness! The vocals sound really good, too, both the leads and backups. I like the way it fits together! Good luck with it!

Appreciate that. I'm no stranger to The Muse at 1000+ posts and will bring that same clarity and level of crit here. No sugarcoating from me, but all in a positive way.

Mackie: Thanks for the visit and comments. Faster, more kick? I don't know, I think the chorus tempo is right where it needs to be. Of course, maybe it would sound even better faster. maybe I'll try it out down the road

Jen: Another "verse" vote. I think I will just expand the bridge and call it a verse (ha, ha). Three more lines could add a lot to it. But I don't want to add too much, it is already close to 3 minutes and the chorus rules this one. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

glyn: Oh no, I am out-voted and out-gunned. hey there glyn, thanks for stopping on by.

Zeek: Yea, it takes a lot of effort to criticise in a constructive manner. Keep it up, sounds good.

Pamela: Hello -- I think you clicked on this old one by mistake! I did add more lyrics to the one marked # II. Thanks for listening.

MaxG: This one is 100% live on one mic -- just me and Sam. Thanks for stopping by and listening.
