I bet you don't want this one. Just recieved this email.... Hi
We were brought to our notice your soundclick page and after listening to your music we want to help you with a record deal service. We have selected 10 potentials and you to visit http://www.recorddeal.cz.cc/
Once there your activation code is : KLJGFLJKHGFDFGGHGHTRTTY
Use it to unlock the record deal software and a virtual manager will be contacting you after unlocking the software.
NOTE: This message was sent to all potentials on Feb-28-2010 and we will keep sending it for about a week after which all activation codes sent to all potentials will expire. Please hurry and go to http://www.recorddeal.cz.cc/
Thank You
Bill HarveyApart from the grammer, why am I just plain scared to click on the links ? Me thinks there is a nasty virus afoot ! Did anyone else get this ? cheers, niteshift

You're probably right. Still, you must've done something that made them want to contact you. Congrats for that.
The grammar doesn't bother me too much--the perpetrators are from the Czech Republic, after all, and the grammar is way better than some of the stuff I get from the financial wizards in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, &c. What would scare me off is the handle "recorddeal." Most of the outfits that do legitimate business aren't so blatant.

Still, you must've done something that made them want to contact you. Yeah,,,he was a baited lure by just being on a site, like us all can be! That's really a totally un-music business outfit of course. Terrible tasting spam without having to taste it. Yuck!

I like the idea of a "virtual" manager. But I suspect they will not accept "virtual" money for your payment to them for giving you this record deal.

That's a good en'. I think I am going to become a virtual manager!
Writing virtual songs, and doing virtual tours of Nashville. Yeah... that's the ticket!
I'm virtually there!!!

I don't know if the Internet gave birth to more con men, or if the Internet just gave the ones already out there access to more potential suckers. More generally, though, has anyone else had problems with this kind of shady behavior?

Hey Max,
Welcome to JPF.
Unfortunately, there is a large element in the entertainment industry which does live in the dark shadows. The more the spotlight is shined on them, the more the scurry back to their nests.
cheers, niteshift
