I have changed this some.....and hey, if someone would put it to music and sing it, well i'd be so happy, for sure it's for a male and country....thanks glyn
and yes i'm still thinking on it...maybe another title???
My Name Is Miss Allie Jo Smith
She stood everyday on that same street corner I’ve seen her drenched from the pouring rain Her light pale skin burnt by the summer sun Gray hair blowing when the March winds came So she stands alone, waves as you pass by With her flowered bucket painted red, white and blue In hopes of getting enough money for a warm motel room She only asks for change, or if you could spare a buck or two
How did this elegant lady end up this way Maybe she was a lady of wealth, in her younger day Warms your heart when she begins to talk Behind her eyes you can see the hurt and pain She’s here at first break of day, when I go to lunch at noon On my way home I always put in a twenty To make sure she has enough for a room
Hadn't seen her in a week ,didn't show this morning No one saw her at lunch or on our breaks If I don't see her anywhere on my way home Tomorrow I’ll find her no matter what it takes With my head down walking to my car She’s standing there, says I need to talk to you Things from my past I’m not so proud of Please give me a chance to explain a thing or two
How did this elegant lady end up this way Maybe she was a lady of wealth, in her younger day Warms your heart when she begins to talk Behind her eyes you can see the hurt and pain She’s here at first break of day, when I go to lunch at noon On my way home I always put in a twenty To make sure she has enough for a room
I was so young ,didn’t know what I was gonna do My folks being rich wouldn’t have it any other way I had to give up a son,and by accident on this street corner I found out who he is that’s why I’ve stayed away I've been thinking for this past few weeks You made sure I was ok, I feel in love with you Not sleeping, this is tearing the heart out of me Can't hide it anymore, it's only fair you knew
Knowing you were raised in a foster home maybe it's time now I tell........
My name is Miss Allie Jo Smith and you sir are my son
She stood there everyday on that same street corner

Ah, a happy ending. Like the story. Don't know if I like the note idea though.

Maybe she could stand there with her son and that way she could tell him and thank him and the son could thank him too.
(This kind of reminds of the movie, Pocket Full of Miracles.) It's different though, but it made me think of it.

I interpret this as being that the person who hands the lady a twenty so she can have a room is her son whom she doesn't recognize. Or does she find him another way? This is another example of how crisis and chaos are currently a creative force despite being inconveniet and disruptive. Had mentioned on another post that I bet the modern day equivalent of a Woody Guthrie is out there somewhere.
Peace, Brian

I really like this song a lot Glynda....
Maybe a bit wordy in places but it does the job...
I will watch and see where this one goes...

Glyn,
I absolutely LOVE where you're going with this.
There's an incredible story in this song. I love it!
