Hi, Pelliot and Big Jim advised me on another thread that I'm better off getting a better mic than my Shure 58 and a pre amp rather than upgrading my digital recorder. I'm going to get the PreSonus TubePre which I found for under 70 pounds as I saw it mentioned a lot on the big microphone thread but I didn't see mentioned the mic I'm intending to get: the Rode NT1-A Condenser Microphone from here: http://www.dv247.com/invt/10229/product.htm?gdftrk=gdfV2356_a_7c416_a_7c1181_a_7c10229I buy things I get drawn to and I was drawn to this for some reason, so would appreciate it if anyone has any experience with it and whether or not it's a good buy at that price range - $150 - $200, Thanks Lucian

Lucian, i have the Rode NTK, which is in about 500-550 range. It's great, i used it for alot of takes on my rock cd "Ready To Fly" and i record with it everyday for doing my worktapes. Their products are usually a very good value for the $, as i can't tell much difference from mine to much more expensive mics i have used at other studios. I also have the presonus you mentioned, a wise investment for the money, to be able to create warmth for that budget, it's a no brainer...write great be well...moker

Thanks for that Moker, I went ahead and got it and presonus as well, and as there was a B-grade one on offer for $150 off I went ahead got my BR-900CD as well... In for a penny in for a pound, as we say here. Cheers Lucian
