Hi everyone.... Beth got the ball rolling and well! And you've all done your part to contribute, but.... We still aint reached our goal :O See I'm gonna have to turn up the heat muhahaha "Turn and bubble boil and trouble" (I think I got that qoute wrong) Anyways this is an addendum to the halloween challenge.... In this challenge the goal is to write a lyric comprising a horror slasher or thriller suspenseful movie you've seen... Now this could range from Friday the 13th to The Birds... (Hitchcock) and there are no boundries you can retell the story or add on an sequel or just a commentary on the movie... you're free to make up your own story, just try to keep as many details as the original movie had so we know what you're talking about... I've got a creative writing piece over on the creative writing board that I'll post here as an idea of what I am talking about . I'm also thinking of tackling Final destination (unless someone beats me to it ) Good luck and have fun and lets push these halloween lyrics the magical 100 mark! Derek

Ok everyone got your pencils ready? Good! now jam it in your ear (just kidding)... Here is an idea of what you could do... This needs a chorus by the way The Silencer of the lambs Hello Clarice it’s me again Yes I’ve been released from the Pen I’d like to go dancing if you’ve the desire Maybe after we’ll start a four alarm fire No my taste for human flesh hasn’t abated But it’s been many years since the last time I dated Would like to see you as soon as tonight I sure hope my calling hasn’t come as a fright No I wasn’t paroled for my outstanding behavior Nor my savior faire, sure did not earn me a favor I’ve effected what we might call self release There that should put your poor mind at ease Before dancing we’ll dine on food fit for a queen Liver of waiter served with fresh fava beans For dessert I am thinking it’s only quite fair Fresh strawberries and cream ala maitre de derriere No you’ve no reason to fear my having busy hands My hands are mere tools my mouth makes the demands So shall we call it fifteen past eight for our little soiree Maybe we could go dutch but I won’t make you pay Though human cuisine may not be to your liking? The price one must pay can be awfully stifling So instead we’ll eat in and order a nice juicy ham From a butcher I know called Silencer of the lambs Copyright October 12, 2008 Derek Hines BMI All Rights Reserved

Ok got my Final Destination song done.... Would you believe the melody is country? Final Destination 1st Verse When planes explode and John Denver plays Death can’t be all that far away Even in the comfort of your living room 2nd Verse Better check the fixtures before you bathe Sometime they seem to misbehave Then likely you’ll end up in a tomb Chorus So pack your bags but beware Something evil’s lurking out there That shaking isn’t turbulence If I’ve told you twice I’ve told ya once It isn’t your Disneyworld vacation This is your final destination 3rd Verse So be careful when you drive your car As you’re wishing upon a star That death won’t place his hand on your shoulder 4th Verse Don’t stop dead on the railroad track If you do there won’t be any looking back And there’s no way you’ll ever grow older Chorus So pack your bags but beware Something evil’s lurking out there That shaking isn’t turbulence If I’ve told you twice I’ve told ya once Isn’t your four star restaurant reservation This is your final destination Bridge If you’re a teacher don’t drink wine at your computer Something gets stuck in the disposal call up roto rooter! Chorus So pack your bags but beware Something evil’s lurking out there That shaking isn’t turbulence If I’ve told you twice I’ve told ya once Better think about self preservation This is your final destination Copyright October 19, 2008 Derek Hines BMI All Rights Reserved I'm thinking if I did music for it I'd play a clip of Rocky mountain high in the intro (fading in) in the middle (as a solo background) and in the outro fading out.... Man I'm sick

I think the first challenge is hard enough. We're not even halfway to 100 yet with a short time left.

Awwweeee, DARN IT!!!! I don't like those kinds of movies. I don't watch them. Hmmm, last one was Alice Sweet Alice, and I can't remember much. Long, long, long time ago. <sniff, sniff>
I'll see what books I have that I can glance through, maybe one of them will dislodge something, like maybe Salems Lot? Hmm, I've got to go read!

Inneressing challenge. I will see what I can do.
I do get to watch those movies occasionally; in fact, now's a real good time of year to do it, because so many channels are doing Hallowe'en marathons. I have to watch late at night, though, because my wife can't stand those flicks. Upside is I get to see the real turkeys, like "Killer Klowns from Outer Space."
I may be one of the few people I know who has "'Salem's Lot" in hardcover, because I've read it so much.

Hi Derek, I'm not into the real scarey stuff but I remember "The Blob" old black and white flick w/Steve McQueen (remember the bowling alley scene, no...wait...maybe that scene was in the remake??) If I remember the original story correctly it goes something like this: "The Blob"(c)2008 Lynn Orloff There was a man of science, Who had a found a substance rare, So he kept it in his freezer, Thinking no one find it there. But it seems a family member, Who was looking for some food, Came across the unmarked package, Took it out and left the room. Lift As it sat out on the counter, seems it started to defrost, Who would guess this curious finding would cause havoc and great loss It was ewy, it was gooey, Earning well it's name “the Blob”, Finding victims to devour, Sadly seemed to be it's job!Though it started as a small thing, Over time it grew in size, As the news spread though the county, Townsfolk feared their own demise. Neighbors gathered feeling helpless, Searching for the perfect plan, Accidentally they discovered, A frozen blob could not kill man. Lift Armed with all their hands could carry, shooting well with Co2, Taking aim to freeze the monster, was the one thing left to do. It was ewy, it was gooey, Could they stop the gruesome “Blob”, Finding victims to devour, Sadly seemed it's only job!Bridge:Now it’s frozen, rendered harmless, If it stays in icey form, But it could present a problem, If it gets alittle warm..... It was ewy, it was gooey, Though it isn't anymore, But be careful for surprises, One could show up at your door

HIDee Bro D...
Here's a Quickie for ya: "BIRDS"
GAWRSH Them Birds are Nippy Like the Ones that Pummeled Tippi Back in Alfred's Movies.. Way-Back-When!
And like a Horror Feature We're beset by those Creatures Starting their Dive-Bombing Again-&-Again!
(CHORUS) Lookout for..THE BIRDS Seagulls Squawking Red Tails Hawking Blackbirds Mawking "Nevermore" Lookout for..THE BIRDS As They Come Crashing Through Windowpanes, Beaks-Slashing Humanity they're Trashing (Gonna Even-The-Score!)
Their Eggshells were All Cracking When Mosquitoes were Attacking & We Sprayed The WORLD with D-D-T...
So Now they Are Re-Grouping Enough so They Are Swooping (They Know It's THEM-or-US & They Won't Leave Us BE)
(REPEAT CHORUS)
(BRIDGE) Don't Listen to the Calling of That Nightingale He's Lulling You to Slumber..So You'll Be..Impaled...
The Hummingbirds are Cunning: Straight for Your Neck they're Gunning (Feels like a Bee-sting Then You Start..to Bleed)
The Robins are Hop-Hopping 'Cuz On Your Knees You're Dropping They're Waiting for The Worms Upon Which..They'll Feed!
(REPEAT CHORUS)
(TAG) While THE BIRDS'll Take a Bashing They're Gonna..EVEN..THE..SCORE!---
{Some BIRDCALLS on the way out..maybe even an "AFLECK" Duck Call?} ;-)>

Hey Everyone! I'm so sorry :O .... I've gotten busy in life recently and haven't had the chance to respond and check in ... I especially apologize to those who wrote us some cool movie inspired lyrics (Stan and Lynn) ... So I'm back for a little tonight and I'll get these caught up, but I'll totally understand if that's the end of the thread lol... Derek

Hey Caroline Well it doesn't have to be super scary... suspense might work quite well as well, something by hitchcock such as North by Northwest maybe? Either way I look forward to what you'll come up with (even if it's nothing ) Derek

Hey Joe Thanks for stopping in and no worries if it don't work out... as you've seen I've been rather hit or miss around here.... seems everytime I want to get more involved I get pulled away by some type of family drama ( Good song writing material maybe? ) But if ya can come up with something I'd be glad to see it Derek

Hey Lynn
Most excellent treatment of a true b movie horror flick classic!
I especially like the chorus, very nice literation on ewy and gooey... I also liked the last chorus quite a bit... You did a great job of giving a synopsis of the film while keeping it quite humorous! Kudos on a job well done and thanks for participating! Derek

Hey Stanny amigo! Very good treatment of the Hitchcock classic "the birds" and fodder for a sequel I'd say... Nice how the birds have some sort of reason for attacking in this one... Points out some very clear environmental messages along with keeping it interesting and funny... makes me a little more alert to the passing over head as well lol.... Afleck Duck Call? Do you have a sound sample for that ? Big belated guy hugs Derek

Hi Derek..
I missed this post somehow when it was originally done. Thanks for the effort!
Perhaps we now need a Thanksgiving song contest? Not many of those either.

You're right, Brian--there are precious few good Thanksgiving songs. precious few Thanksgving songs, period. The imagery you've got to work with is a tad limited.
I do have a few songs that are real turkeys. I don't suppose that would work?
