Hi Folks, Just Plain Folks OC/LA is hosting a terrific line-up of music panelists as part of the LA WoMen In Music Annual Bazarr/Boutique at the Globe Theatre in Topanga. This is an incredible FREE opportunity for a whole line-up of experts. The Bazarr/Boutique is part of LAWIM's fundraising, and benefits both the buyer and host. Panelists are listed below. Please plan on spending all or part of the day with us, for workshops, networking, and shopping. I will be hosting the workshops, as well as Anna (Without The Blond) Tudor. Los Angeles.——L.A. WoMen In Music, the non-profit organization dedicated to providing career opportunities and education to women and men in the music business has announced their Annual Holiday Bazaar/Boutique and Music Panel event. This is an eclectic day for combining holiday shopping in one place for all kinds of cool and reasonably priced gifts with simultaneous music panels & networking. The event will take place at The Globe Theater at 1909 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd. Topanga, CA 90290, on Sunday, December 9th, from 10 am to 4 pm, followed by an open mic, hosted by Jimi Yamagishi from 5:30-7 p.m.

There will be raffles all day for wonderful prizes including a Daisy Rock Atomic Pink Rock Candy Guitar. Just Plain Folks and LAWIM will offer panels & seminars to be presented by prominent music industry experts including Authors/Music Supervisors/Vocal Coaches and more. Tentatively scheduled speakers include:

Gerald completed college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Classical Piano and a Master’s Degree in Jazz and Commercial Music. He moved to LA and hit the pavement, attempting to promote his music. Through constant work for artistic exposure and with the aid of interested artists, he found success as a vocalist/musician in the session world.
Some of Gerald’s recent credits include, Beowulf, Enchanted, American Gangster, The Simpsons, Happy Feet, Spiderman 3, Rocky Balboa, 2007 Academy Awards, 2007 Grammy Awards, and a live performance opening for the United Nations World Peace Conference in Washington DC. He currently teaches music classes at AFTRA and the SCREEN ACTORS GUILD and coaches private voice in Santa Monica.

Christy has been an LA based renaissance singer/songwriter, composer, and music director for over 10 years. Her self-titled debut album hit stores in 2001 and her hit song “Beautiful” spent 12 weeks on the Top 40 Adult Contemporary Charts. She has toured as a pianist for Warner Bros. “Bugs Bunny on Broadway,” Elton John’s “Aida,” and is currently part of the “Wicked” orchestra at the Pantages. In film & television, she has most recently worked as part of the orchestration team for the current epic “The Golden Compass,”, and on TV shows such as “How I Met Your Mother.” She has sung on the recent hit movies “Spiderman 3, The Simpsons Movie, and the upcoming I Am Legend, and one of her favorite live memories was performing on the 2007 Grammys with Grammy winners Gnarls Barkley, performing their hit song “Crazy.”

Liz Howard gave a vocal warm up to STING at the 2007 Grammys for "Roxanne," celebrating the reunion of The Police and vocal coached Andy and Stewart before their reunion tour. She is the vocal teacher of Paige O’Hara, Belle in the film, "Beauty and the Beast."
Liz is a “vocal chameleon.” Her ability to sing and teach in a variety of styles is unparalleled - Blues, R&B, Country Western, Jazz, Music Theater and Opera.
Liz had a contract with MCA Music as singer/song writer. Her books, CDs and DVD are distributed by Alfred Publishing: “SING!” “The ABC’s of Vocal Harmony” and “Born to Sing.” SING! is also in Italian and Portuguese.
Ms. Howard has a B.S. and M.S. in voice from Juilliard. In 1980 she founded the Vocal Power Academy and trained singer/ teachers to teach the Vocal Power Method throughout LA. Her associates have branches in Las Vegas and the Bay area. Liz has done Vocal Power workshops in 10 countries. Voice faculties include Pepperdine, USC, Hunter College and Indiana University. She is past president of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, LA chapter.

Anne Cecere

Anne Cecere is Associate Director of Film/TV Relations at BMI. In her capacity at BMI she continues to sign new composers and songwriters while maintaining relationships with existing BMI affiliates. She also serves as BMI’s liaison with such organizations as The Society of Composers & Lyricists, Film Independent, and South by Southwest Film Festival. Anne has been featured as a guest lecturer and consultant for several universities and music conservatories.
Before joining BMI in 2004, Anne worked with multiple award-winning composer Mark Isham, where she was involved with numerous films, including Miracle, The Cooler, Highwaymen, Twisted, Spartan, and the 2006 Academy Award-winning film, Crash. Her varied background also includes music supervision for the award winning film The Shift by Chuck Parker (MONK), working on the A&R staff of Cane Records and in music publishing with Sony Records Latin in Miami Beach.

When not at BMI, Anne sits on the leadership council for Hollywood Arts, a nonprofit organization that teaches at-risk and homeless teenagers to use their own talents to transition off the streets and change their lives. She is also co-founder of The Women’s Industry Network (WIN) a social organization for busy professionals.

A former opera singer, Anne is a graduate of the prestigious University of Miami School of Music with a degree in Music Business and Entertainment Industries (MBEI).

Toni Koch (pronounced “coke”) moved to Los Angeles in April 2003 to work in Artist Relations/Promotions with Australia’s entrepreneurial artist gilli moon’s indie record label, Warrior Girl Music. Toni volunteers a lot of her time encouraging indie artists and has been an integral part in the rapid growth of non-profit organization Songsalive! as it’s US Artist and Memberships Coordinator from 2002-2007 before taking a time out to pursue her own dreams. In her illustrious career Toni has worked with many artists on the rise, was a pioneer in street teaming “building a buzz” for Clear Channel Entertainment concerts in Phoenix, AZ and is currently on assignment with Citadel Broadcasting as executive assistant to the President and General Manager of KABC / KLOS radio here in Los Angeles. Toni has also been a Record Pool director, dj spinner in clubs, earned a platinum record for “music promotion” in 1992 and at times relaxes incognito by writing poetry or songs but her passion is in “promoting artists, authors or companies who exhibit an altruistic spirit that benefits the whole world”. Toni was one of the co-producers of the 1st Los Angeles Women’s Music Festival in 2007 and hopes to continue in supporting any event that benefits artists and/or the world. Harriet Schock is a hit songwriter, songwriting instructor, recording artist and performer.
