I am interested in learning more bass lines for Arabian music and other Middle Eastern styles for an upcoming project.
Can anyone suggest some websites, books, videos, etc to learn this style of music.
Thanks,
Gary

Here's a scale I use to get a middle-eastern, arabic "feel". By the way, I know very little about arabic music, but this scale has always sounded reminiscent, to me, of the little arabic music I've heard. 1 2b 3 4 5 6b 7 1 In C, this would be: C Db E F G Ab B C This scale allows for two augmented seconds, which give it an exotic feel. You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash It's only music. -niteshift Mike Dunbar Music

Hey Gary, If you need any assistance on the project, let me know - I don't live too far from you, and I have a large collection of Mid Eastern ethnic instruments that I use in performances and for recording. Contact me at music@silentearth.org if you're interested.

Tom,
Thanks for the offer anyway. I will keep it in mind but I am not sure if I will need any help on this.
The project, which is still in the planning stages, is going to be a musical drama and possible stage performance. At this point, I am not sure what my involvement will be if any. I am just gathering ideas.
Best,
Gary
