intended to be sung by a duo of Long John Bawldry and "Krusty" the clown with Mr. Bawldry feining an Austrailian accent. That way it'll have a universal appeal.LOL Dad Gum-Blasted Rats I hate them g-blasted rats! Eating up the horses grain, as if it belonged to them. poking holes in the bags, they're probably spilling half!
The squirrels are much prettier they just eat what falls on the ground go to their treehouse and chitter if you go outside , they're not around 'less ya look quick at the trees.
Rats dig holes and burrow around and dig tunnels to get in ya house not satisfied with what falls on the ground they'll eat ya from home and house just like they were a walking disease
Chorus Set traps for them G-blasted rats! I hate 'em , every one. 'rather have a bellfry with bats than them beady-eyed sons-o-guns.
Pete

First off, you and I may be the only people in this place who even knows who Long John IS! Even though half of the British Rockers and bluesmen got their start with him. Burn Down The Cornfield is one cool jam.
Now, regarding the lyric - did you sober up yet? I know Maine winters are tough, but you gotta get out more, bro!
Eddie

Gee Eddie, Ummm , you back from the Port Jeff Ferry already? You really are fast ! It ain't the first time someone's told me i orta git out more. Next time you wind up the rigg , I'll run shotgun with ya and you can show me all the hotspots in Smittown. I don't think we're the onlyest ones to know of Long John, very music-savvy folks around here, Al Dimiola might be pushing it. I'm not drunk, heck I ain't even got a buzz on or , laying around the shanty either. would it help any to say that this is a kids number? Pete

Hi, Pete. Speaking from a children's song point of view, maybe Dad Blasted Rats might fly better than G-Blasted. Just some oats for thought. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/wink.gif) ------------------ "Shoot for the moon, and even if you miss, you will land among the stars." -- Les Brown http://www.soundclick.com/bands/8/triciabakermusic.htm
"Grits is one of those country-boy words that is both singular and plural-like deer, elk and sheep. I think the singular is appropriate when there's a modifier that makes it clear one is talking about something specific. Like, 'Grits are good for you, but these here grits is tasty.'"~~Joe Wrabek

Hello Pete,
Well, this is quite different, maybe I need to read it again to get the full picture.
Yes, I've heard of Long John & Krusty & Al Dimiola, don't know a lot about em, but know em all.

Hey, Calvin , Thank you for taking the time to post and unfortunately , I know more of Krusty than either Al or John. Seems radiddio stations only give out precious few morsels of Jazz , and then , only Sunday morning so the regular folks with hangovers won't notice and complain. Sweltering down there in Okachobee? I feel for you, it's been snowing up here since this morning , isn't letting up any time soon and I'll probably get a chance to listen to the "Whispering Pines" real soon. Hope I spelled Okachobee right, while I'm in "reply" mode it's gone , flyinfg blind here. Enjoy the sun , after all those hurricanes you guys and womanfolks deserve a nice break! Pete

FYI -
There are times when the 'legend' of Long John Baldry gets in the way of the man's music. This is, after all, the man who helped turn Reg Dwight into Elton John; the man who found Rod Stewart at midnight on a railway station platform ("playing harmonica under a pile of football scarves"); and the man who sang with the first British rhythm and blues bands, with Charlie Watts on drums and a callow youth named Mick Jagger singing occasional vocals. ....From the liner notes of "Right to Sing the Blues"

Sure I've heard of Long John Baldry - stalwart of the birth of English blues! His most successful single was "Let The Heartaches Begin" I'm sorry Pete, I must have missed this little gem of yours - only just spotted it - so here's a bump! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.justplainfolks.org/ubb/smile.gif) I really enjoyed reading it - you have a very unusual style - don't let anyone knock it out of you! Diane
Mz Bernie Taupin looking for her Elton John??
