Starting Sunday I'll be in San Francisco for a week. I'm planning on going to the Freight & Salvage open mic while I'm there. Any other cool open mics to check out that are for sure going on this week? I read that list posted here and will check out those, but I'm just wondering if there are some FOR SURE open mics going down! Looking forward to meeting some JPF members! ROCK ON! I went by the Hotel Utah on Monday. I've done it before. Last time I went up way past midnight and I was #16 or something. This time I was the second to last name drawn at #21, so I just bailed. I couldn't hang out there that long. The Utah can be fun, but I think it needs to be run a little tighter. That, "You have 8 mins for one song" thing can be a killer because it seems everyone stretches out a a song to get the most stage time as possible. Just my two cents. Wish I'd known about the Voodoo Lounge. I'll be back up in two weeks, perhaps I'll give it a go then.
I played the Freight & Salvage last night. that was a great show and a good crowd. Almost worth the two hour drive in traffic. Good thing I'm from Los Angeles and am used to it!
I may try to get out tonight, Wed, to one of the open mics.
