HARTFORD, CT / May 2001 - Stamford native and singer-songwriter Guy-Michael Grande may have participated in the Bennett Cancer Center WALK for the last four years, but this year he knows it will be much different.

In the past, he walked and raised money for the cause along with his family - first in honor of and then in memory of his father, the late Ralph Grande (of Stamford). This year Grande will have a different perspective as he takes the stage as a featured performer for the charity event.

"I'm honored to share my music for a cause that means so much to my family and me," said Grande. "As a performer, I strive to always give something to the audience. This is my chance to give something back to the Bennett Cancer Center and my hometown community."

Grande will be performing original songs from his debut CD Familiar Strangers, released earlier this year. The record, produced by Jim Chapdelaine of Be-BANG! Studios (West Hartford, CT), is a compilation of Grande's original music written about everyday life.

This is the sixth year for the annual WALK, which aims to raise $500,000 to benefit local cancer patients and their families. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, June 3 at Shippan Point in Stamford, CT.

Familiar Strangers is available on Grande’s own independent label, Route Five Records. For more information, contact the label at routefive@hotmail.com or visit www.cdbaby.com/guymichael.
