Hello Everyone! We're thrilled to be a part of the Just Plain Folks Community. Thanks Brian! Now about our band Misty River, an all-female acoustic quartet. MISTY RIVER Compelling Harmonic Voices - Where Folk, Country and Bluegrass Converge Misty River(a Portland, Oregon band) performs a wide variety of Americana music from familiar folk, country and bluegrass favorites to Celtic tunes, haunting ballads and award-winning original songs. Northwest audiences have been captivated by this all-female acoustic quartet (two of whom are mother and daughter) who support their beautiful blend of harmonic voices with unique blends of guitar, fiddle, accordion, banjo and bass. MISTY RIVER announces the release of their first CD, ‘Rising’ where they partner with Dale Adkins to produce a spectacular project of ten songs, half originals and half traditionals. Guest artists are: John Reischman-mandolin, Glen Moore-arco bass, Dale Adkins-guitar, and Bill Storms-Dobro. Recent Reviews about MISTY RIVER:  “…one of the Pacific Northwest’s finest groups….Misty River creates a sound that is both traditional-based and all their own. It’s time for folks outside our corner of the world to find out what we already know – Misty River’s voices will grab you, and keep you locked in until the last song on the disc is gone.”– Allen Price, Victory Review  “[Misty River] creates a sound rich in texture that draws heavily on tradition and yet feels new at the same time. As vocalists, these women are impressively nimble, shifting gears smoothly between melancholic ballads…and good-old-girl anthems.” – Charis Williams, The Multnomah Village Post  “…the true star of the show: powerful, harmonic vocals…underlaid by solid instrumentals.” – Jack Clifford, The Eugene Register Guard  “Every song is like Gatorade for the soul; a soft compelling and delicious concoction that you didn’t know you needed…. Using wonderful acoustic instruments, they play like they've been on the circuit for ages. The sound in person is as pure and wonderful as the sound the CD makes coming out of your speakers at home. -- Rae Gordon, Positively Entertainment  “It is no wonder that this band is so wildly popular in the Pacific Northwest.” – Frank Mils, editor of Brigit’s Feast, a Celtic journal  “…A must see band…[that] holds audiences spellbound with glistening harmonies and fresh enthusiasm…delighting audiences with stellar vocal arrangements and an exciting and thoroughly entertaining eclectic repertoire.” – Karolyn Laster, Portland Songwriter’s Association  "The trademark of their sound on the CD and in performance is lush, pitch-perfect harmonies and gentle, tasteful arrangements, with a fresh interpretation of songs….” -- Heidi Muller, Victory Review Together since July 1997, MISTY RIVER's 1999 and 2000 credits include numerous first place wins in local band and songwriting contests, including the Portland Songwriter’s Association and the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival. The group performed at the regional Lilith Fair Talent Search as semi-finalists and recently won the West Coast Regional spot in the "Best Unsigned Band" contest sponsored by Zideo.com. In the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area, as well as various other cities across the USA, MISTY RIVER plays at venues that include: folk and bluegrass festivals, state and county fairs, colleges, civic events and city park concerts, numerous theatre and coffeehouse concerts, McMenamin's pubs, weddings, and corporate and private parties. MISTY RIVER performs as a full time band. Venues have included: NW Folklife in Seattle, Wintergrass in Tacoma, the Sisters Folk Festival in Oregon, the prestigious Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas and finally Dollywood, Tennessee.
