THEY GOOFED AGAIN
[Verse 1] They came in with a smoking gun They said, “This time we’ve got the one!” They waved the papers, made a scene Then somehow broke the whole machine
They called the lawyers, called the press They promised everyone success But somewhere between “We’ve got him!” And “Wait a minute…” — the case is rotten
[Pre-Chorus] They had a plan They had a case They had that confident look on their face Then somebody pulled the wrong string And suddenly it’s a different thing
[Chorus] They goofed again, they goofed again Here we go around the bend Big bad words and a big bad show Then — oops! — where did the evidence go?
They goofed again, they goofed again Somebody tell them how this ends They swing for the fences, then strike out again They goofed again — they goofed again!
[Verse 2] They called somebody a dirtbag loud They looked so tough in front of the crowd But when the facts came marching in That little victory turned into a spin
They said, “We’ll make that prosecutor pay!” Then watched the whole thing slip away A master plan, a brilliant scheme That crumbled right into a meme
[Bridge] Oopsie, daisy, what went wrong? They've been pounding that drum too long One more hearing, one more try One more headline, one more “Why?”
[Final Chorus] They goofed again, they goofed again Here we go around the bend Big bad words and a big bad show Then — oops! — where did the evidence go?
They goofed again, they goofed again Somebody tell them how this ends They swing for the fences, then strike out again They goofed again — they goofed again!
[Outro] They goofed again! Yeah, they goofed again! Raise the curtain, cue the band — They goofed it across the land!

I like this a lot better than the other one you posted (It's All An Illusion)
Keep on writing.

For those of you who don't know what this song is about, it's about US politics. This one was inspired by Republican Senator Eric Schmitt’s recent attempt to trip up former Trump prosecutor Jack Smith during a Senate hearing. Trump wants Smith prosecuted, but so far, efforts to find something that sticks against him haven't gone very far.
Schmitt was trying to suggest that Smith had secretly been in Atlanta on February 3, 2024 — apparently to imply a connection with Fulton County DA Fani Willis. His supposed evidence centered around an Atlanta Hawks game against the Golden State Warriors. There was just one problem. Smith said he hadn’t been at that game. He had been at a University of Iowa women’s basketball game in Maryland, watching Caitlin Clark.
Atlanta Hawks. Iowa Hawkeyes.
Two different teams. Two different cities. About 650 miles apart.
Schmitt had accused Smith of perjury and even called him a “total dirtbag.” Then Senator Amy Klobuchar pointed out the rather important detail: maybe you should get your facts straight before calling someone a dirtbag. And just like that, the big “gotcha” moment went poof. It was pretty embarrassing for Schmitt.
That little episode inspired this tongue-in-cheek song about big accusations, big confidence, and spectacularly small details.
They goofed again!

Sounds like a IQ test on how long it takes school buses to get to get to Maryland to Atlanta . Who knows . You ruin your day at 7am watching that bullshit. Yup you love politics .

I actually hate politics but when you start paying 11$ for a gallon of gas you just can't ignore politics anymore.

You have been consumed by Trump for years as gas went up and down, and you have brought it here again and again. A more logical assumption is that you are a highly agitated little man who's emotions engulf him. I suspect this was another baited trap. See what you can get Brian to do. Good luck with it.

Hey Sunset, I'd like to remind you that this song has nothing to do with Trump. They goofed. I'm sure you agree they did. Or are you accusing me of spreading some kind of fake news? As for gas prices... they've never reached 11$ here. We all know who is responsible. Come on Sunset, don't say it's Biden's fault. And one more thing, Sunset: you say I’m “consumed by Trump,” yet my song is about Schmitt confusing the Atlanta Hawks with the Iowa Hawkeyes — and somehow you managed to bring Trump, gas prices, and my emotional state into the comments. I think you may have just demonstrated my point for me. 😂

Yeah yeah yeah Rob.
Your post is about Trump and gas prices. i.e. his decisions and their consequences. Give up the your girlish attempts at head fakes. They are too obvious to obscure.
The paradox is that I agree...somewhat. Trump has the country mired in another expensive war in the middle east. He gambled and , to date, is losing the bet.
Be that as it may, Im not going to start dumping political angst on a songwriting site...because I am not an ate up little twat.
Of course, im not suggesting that anyone else is.

So far from Trump who you'd involve this with

Yes yes john, this war and it's effect on gasoline prices and the inflation that was going to be there anyway because the economy has been mismanaged for so many years is causing Trump and in turn the Republican party to take a hit. The only thing left to wonder is how big a hit.
The drug cartels, criminals walking the streets, incarcerated criminals who want lesser sentences, people who want someone to pay for an operation that will disguise their gender, drag queens who want to perform bad routines in front of children are all very hopeful...as are you.
Good luck to you-all. AOC and Bernie may be running OUR house and senate soon.

Marty you have become paranoid. Did you actually read the lyric? Are you not familiar with the facts?
You see things ...all those you mentioned and more fed by whatever drives you ...wherever you look.
The american people will vote and decide and hopefully elections are not interfered with
Here Elon urged Alberta, Quebec and Saskatchewan to separate as a PQ seperatist minority was just elected while in Alberta a seperatist group including a fringe that has reportedly promised To essentially hand over strategic assets to the US for its support
Saskatchewan had an immediate no and iur federal government has yet to respond
In the meantime Canada was pointedly told to stay out of your upcoming elections.
I expect some canadian tesla owners will once again ditch their cars and others will not buy
Im waiting for our Gripen and SAAB announcement as the US once again comes after our aviation industry
Different worries different perpectives

No John,
Im not paranoid. Nor am I interested in overreaching and ongoing back and forth here.
If Trump and the Repubs take a major hit...then they do and history moves on. I have my priority issues...which may take hit too.
A word of warning... You Canadians have had a nice situation for a long time. Your liberal thinking is causing you to erode and collapse what you have.
Be careful what you wish for.
Signing off here.

All I can say Marty is that i am happy not to be you.
I fully believe inside every human is a vibrant life living its genetic expression of physical mental and emotional characteristics...borne with a birthright inherited from parents...added to the sum of who they are and inspire to become brought to the day to day incoming experience and presence of their time. I fully wish that for you to be positive for yourself
We are both smart rational people who have interacted well in the past.
It is in our experience that we differ and in the futures we face. Your future to you seems under threat as evidenced by your posts
Your past rabid support of everything trump has gone south and there is no real choice amongst stinking fish
Bernie and AOC coming...
Yup...i am happy not to be you

An area of agreement. Am glad you are not me too.
I've hit my quota for feeding into this dysfunction.
Have a good evening.

First off, I'd like to reiterate that this song is not about Trump. I've already explained what inspired it.
But I find this statement from Sunset highly amusing: “The inflation that was going to be there anyway because the economy has been mismanaged for so many years…” Let's look at the timeline. Trump was president for almost 6 of the past 10 years. So if we're talking about years of economic mismanagement, it seems reasonable to examine his administration's record, rather than automatically blaming the previous administration.
Yet somehow, Sunset's argument manages to acknowledge that Trump is taking a political hit while shifting the blame for the underlying economic problems elsewhere. That sounds awfully familiar. Blame the previous administration, take credit for the good, and dodge responsibility for the bad.
Wake up, America.
Sunset also wrote: “AOC and Bernie may be running OUR House and Senate soon.” Well, maybe then Congress will start doing its job again.
During Trump's second term, we've seen a strong concentration of decision-making power in the White House, including major decisions about the war with Iran. Congress has constitutional powers of its own, including the power to declare war and control federal spending. Yet when the president takes major military action, Congress often struggles to exercise meaningful control.
So perhaps having a different majority in Congress wouldn't be such a bad thing. Maybe Congress would start acting as an independent branch of government again, rather than letting the White House dominate the agenda. And if AOC and Bernie help make that happen, why should that be something to fear?
Just a thought.
