That reasoning is sound on its face, but it does not apply here. It is futile to think that it does.

Step back from this circumstance.
There is a calm every once in a while because posting stops for one reason or another. As soon as any activity begins again, whether something good like a song posting or random trolling.. The attacks and non-topics fire back up and any Harmony necessary for any constructive endeavor, be it songwriting or whatever else… is destroyed. Every single time for years.

And that is the pattern of this place, whether I'm here or not.

Lately, Tony was left idle for a few days and started developing troll's withdrawal symptoms and needing a trolling fix, so he started calling you and John and Rob out by name with insults couched as songs to stir something up to munch on. The hilarious irony is that Tony calls everyone else a troll.

In that lull, Tony was even digging into the archives and bragging about how he used to call Mark Barnett demeaning names. I think as a result, Barnett is gone from here. Barnett actually had real world music business experience. Tony doesn't have anything more than sitting around in his underwear writing strange songs that no one would be interested in, set to old Black Sabbath riffs.
Barnett was worth 20 Tony's to a website dedicated to songwriting, but he is gone from this one… and Tony is all that the site gets as a replacement..

Kay-Lynn looked like she might be a nucleus for a new center of gravity to build on, but Tony saw that starting to work and destroyed any motivation that she had for wanting to be here, using vile insults as the weapon against her.

Today, Tony says he is visiting mom. Isn’t that adorable?
And she must be so proud.
I wonder if Tony shares his posts about Kay-Lynn choking on Brian’s member, with mom.
If he does, I wonder if she says “that’s my good boy?”.

HAVING SAID ALL OF THAT ABOUT TONY….
I feel it necessary to retract a previous statement that I made about Tony.
I said that he viewed his buffoonery as muse (art) stimulation.
I said that it stimulated nothing. Was just a fool staring admiringly into a mirror.
"On reflection," I have decided that is not true.

He does stimulate art.
He caused me to write “sermon of a fool.”
That was so impactual, that some follower felt compelled to report its content to SUNO where I had generated the audio art. Once done he reported back to Tony, in a show of solidarity, that this great deed had been done on Tony’s behalf..

Step back from that…
Can you imagine living in a world so foggy that you're incensed by the broadcast of words spoken by a degenerate, yet, your reaction is to report back to the degenerate that you have registered a grievance with the audio platform for repeating those words. All in an apparent attempt to do damage to the person who brought attention to the degenerate words and gain favor with the degenerate who originated them. It strikes me as tragic and a lifelong prison sentence it must be to live in such a fog?

But “art” has once again been advanced. and I have done a visual art piece that I believe exceeds the impact and artistic prowess of “sermon of a fool.”
It is entirely based on the words of Tony aka JAPOV in this single thread.
So he is, in fact, the “inspiration” for the piece.

I will be posting it later this evening or tomorrow in the appropriate section for visual arts. I will put a link to it here when it is ready. For any interested parties…stay tuned.

PS..all issues of convoluted thinking expressed will have to wait a week for correction. In the interim those people should contemplate whether the Donald Trump dictatorship can be constitutionally justified by a conservative court and whether or not, they themselves are male, female or furry, this day, week, month.

Big picture,

For all your long-winded effort and deliberation in my name... It is tragically laughable that you will still only ever be known here as a lying, atheist, Kay-Mart Mankunt... and the least productive member of an amateur songwriting site... who constantly got spanked by an old Abalama hack with a cheap China Strat.

am not an atheist.
Claiming that there is no God is just about as spiritual a statement as claiming that you know exactly what God is and wants. I realize that you don't split hairs and people are either eternally damned or they are not.

Then again Thomas Jefferson questioned the divinity of Christ openly, and adamantly believed that theocrats should not have access to civil power. Salem and you are enough justification of that for me.

Some people bear no animus to "faith," but can't honestly brush their doubts aside.

But that is a different array of concerns than songwriting.

Regarding this site, I'm not posting songs at all.
Why would anyone pour their earnestly spent time and effort into a song, to post it for comments on a site where nothing that looks or sounds like anything on the radio is being posted?

"For Dom" "For Rob and Kay"
What is the point in putting forth earnest effort into such nonsense on a site where the de facto, lowest common denominator has boiled down to a troll called JAPOV?

And that brings up another concern. My visual art derived from your words can wait at least a week. My involvement here has taken up more than a week's allotment.

xoxo

Yeah', yeah', blah, blah... Whatever.
Talk about emotionally invested lol...

I sincerely hope my inspiration for your latest work of art fills whatever that empty space is between your ears, Mr Lied.

Could it be lack of validation?

How did I ever wind up being your measure for legitimacy?

In any case, you really should take that up with God... Not me. I don't care.
I have more than proven myself to my creative betters; As evidenced by this perpetual condemnation. (speaking of "Salem", lol)

My faith is not predicated upon your spiritless sophistry, MartyDom...

That's very lofty text there.
But does it actually mean anything?

Elaborate on exactly what that means to you.
What have you proven and where is the evidence that supports the claim?
Who or what are "creative betters."

Too interesting to pass on.

No thank you. I don't read all the junk that you guys post here. I guess I didn't see it. It's not important.
Anyway, continue to have fun doing what you're doing. It's just sad that you guys hijack a songwriting forum to waste your time.

What we really have here is a collossal lack of grace being extended to eachother by an artistic group of people and we are less for it.

We are all not all bad, we're just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigour
No debate, on our own we're better
We're not all bad, we're just all bad together

Shameless Dweebfart had a moment when he found a point of view
Contradicted where he stood so firmly planted in the mud
There was sniping from the sidelines, incoming from above
There was German interference then there was the Great White North

We are all not all bad, we're just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigour
No debate, on our own we're better
We're not all bad, we're just all bad together

Now what would really be cool is if everyone contributes to build this into a good lyric which Rob can put through SUNO and I can use to create a video

The feel is 12(3stressed)45678 and the tone is tongue in cheek

The opening works because you hang the all over two beats ..lets the song bounce in an easy way with the right bpm

If writing ever becomes work I think I'm going to have to stop

I think I can add something to that...

Verse:
There’s a prophet in the comments with a holy point to prove
Every chord becomes a sermon, every rhyme a sacred truth
There’s a genius with typos who’s declaring he’s the king
Spelling words like modern art but convinced he’s everything

Pre-Chorus 1:
And the wise guy drops a lecture no one really asked to hear
While correcting all the grammar as he sips his cheap beer

Chorus:
We are all not all bad, we’re just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigour
No debate, on our own we’re better
We’re not all bad, we’re just all bad together

Verse:
There’s a driver of opinions switching lanes without a sign
There’s a map of contradictions drawn in permanent ink lines
From the forests up in Canada to the castles over Rhine
We’re united by our egos and completely out of time

Pre-Chorus 2:
Every post a new disaster, every thread a little war
But we keep on coming back here just to ask a little more

I'm just brainstorming... Maybe we can use 1 or 2 lines.

Possible bridge:

Maybe there’s a melody beneath the noise and spite
Buried under bruised egos and who thinks they’re right
If we ever shut up long enough to hear a line
We might almost make some music… once or twice

Hey John,
I think this where we are right now. I don't think Marty wants to contribute anything. Dom never collaborates with anybody here. I'm not sure about Tony...

All Bad Together

[hyper-modern production with clear vocals, no autotune, Dolby Atmos mix, high-fidelity, high-definition audio and wide stereo]

[Intro]

[Verse]
Shameless dweebfart grabbed himself a bold, heroic view
Dropped it when it didn’t fit the latest thing to do
Sniping from the sidelines, egos on the rise
From the cold north to old Europe, same thin disguise

[Verse]
There’s a prophet in the comments with a holy point to prove
Every chord becomes a sermon, every rhyme a truth
There’s a genius full of typos, still declaring he’s the king
Spelling words like modern art, but he’s sure he’s everything

[Pre-chorus]
Every post a new disaster, every thread a little war
Still we keep on coming back here, always asking just for more

[Chorus]
We are all not all bad
No, we’re just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigor
No debate, on our own we’re better
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

[Break]

[Verse]
There’s a driver of opinions switching lanes without a sign
There’s a map of contradictions drawn in ink that won’t unwind
From the forests up in Canada to castles on the Rhine
We’re united by our egos, always running out of time

[Pre-chorus]
Every post a new disaster, every thread a little war
Still we keep on coming back here, always asking just for more

[Chorus]
We are all not all bad
No, we’re just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigor
No debate, on our own we’re better
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

[Bridge]
Maybe there’s a melody beneath the noise and spite
Buried under bruised egos and the need to all be right
If we ever shut up long enough to hear a line
We might almost make some music, maybe once or twice

[Interlude]

[Final chorus]
We are all not all bad
No, we’re just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigor
No debate, on our own we’re better
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

[Outro]
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

Maybe there's too much baggage for Marty to carry...dunno. I have definitely experienced his rigidity but thought he might be able rise above it

And don't sell Dom short. Dom wants exactly this kind of activity and Tony is central here....was who I had in mind...so I hope he does.
Yes he was been horrible to KayLynn...and I hope it does not happen again, but he does have a good sense of humour buried in him

And JLS is here and others may pass through

in the meantime....really like my v1 ..necessary....so let me start there and cherry pick you to get to V1.3 of this

We're not all bad, we're just all bad togethe

Basement prophet writing sermons warning of the end of days
Cranking up his Telecaster with no rhetoric held at bay
There's an error on the keyboard of the Eastern typo king
Mixes up gestaldt, creative art and a little of everything

Maybe there’s a melody beneath the noise and spite
Underneath our fragile egos and our need to be right
If we listened a little harder we could make our gigs so tight
Might almost make some music, maybe once or twice

We are all not all bad, we're just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigour
No debate, on our own we're better
We're not all bad, we're just all bad togethe

Nice. I like it. The rhyme scheme of the verses are different. I would make them identical. If you listen to the song you'll notice the line "We are all not all bad" comes out pretty good. That was the reason I repeated that line. Did you listen to the song? Should the music go in a different direction?

I liked this:

[Pre-chorus]
Every post a new disaster, every thread a little war
Still we keep on coming back here, always asking just for more

Shouldn't it read: Mixed up gestalt ?

Dang no Rob I went right into the lyric...love the production and the hook turns out catchy ...definitely stands on its own

but i'm thinking different direction musically...don't know how to prompt it

Chorus in my mind has a Lost Together by Blue Rodeo feel but sped up to more . count 12345678 stressing the three

Re rhyme scheme....definitely sings and rhymes and works in my head ....maybe because I am slower and

Can we finalize the lyrics? What about the rhyme scheme in verse 1?

[Verse]
Shameless Dweebfart had a moment when he found a point of view
Contradicted where he stood so firmly planted in the mud
There was sniping from the sidelines, incoming from above
There was German interference then there was the Great White North

[Pre-chorus]
Every post a new disaster, every thread a little war
Still we keep on coming back here, always asking just for more

[Chorus]
We are all not all bad, we're just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigor
No debate, on our own we're better
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

[Break]

[Verse]
Basement prophet writing sermons warning of the end of days
Cranking up his Telecaster with no rhetoric held at bay
There's an error on the keyboard of the Eastern typo king
Mixed up gestalt, creative art and a little of everything

[Pre-chorus]
Every post a new disaster, every thread a little war
Still we keep on coming back here, always asking just for more

[Chorus]
We are all not all bad, we're just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigor
No debate, on our own we're better
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

[Bridge]
Maybe there’s a melody beneath the noise and spite
Underneath our fragile egos and our need to be right
If we listened a little harder, we could make our gigs so tight
Might almost make some music, maybe once or twice

[Chorus]
We are all not all bad, we're just all bad together
Nasty snakes, slithering here with vigor
No debate, on our own we're better
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

[Outro]
We are all not all bad
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

Wow! LOL

This is great.
You two guys (?) have taken charge and are pounding your message home.
No one (below the age of 10) could withstand this barrage.
This is what they call, "TAKING-NO-PRISONERS!!!!!!"

And the message!...actually...what is the message?
Can you translate it from oblique-nonsensical-sissy-talk to English?
(with footnotes)

Miley Cyrus has been waiting her entire life to sing the profound "my truths" contained herein.

Put the word out?
Good luck with this one. You all have got a gem here!

Question though...how old are you two? John and Rob?

LOL

Hey Marty, if you do not want to play, why come by to criticize the game?

While you're here, a thought struck me today.

Do you realize that if those pesky Democrats had not stolen that election as you have so strongly asserted that Trump would have been out of office for just over a year now?

I really love irony like that...but maybe that is humour you can't relate to that either?

No. I cannot. I'm too much the nuts and bolts realist.
Trump's in, just as Biden was in...and that is that.
I'll let you worry about whatever worries you.
Minds such as yours seem to spend a lot of time in chimerical alternate realities that never actually happened...I guess it brings you comfort. Tied in with that whole "my truth" delusion that libs sell themselves.

Funny that you should bring it up though. I was just now doing some reading on the Callais decision. Seems that future congressional districts will be determined by natural geography, shared political leanings and established borders such as county lines.

Race cannot be a primary determinant.
If the other factors are clearly established and credible, it can be a net effect...as long as it does not appear to be a primary determinant.

Interesting implications.

As for the song...I complimented the song and wished you all good luck with it...yet, now you try to shame me?!

Here you go John. Man, that Blue Rodeo - Lost Together vibe was a tough one. I never heard that song before.

I've got two versions. Is there one here that you like?

Marty, we are young at heart, just having fun writing songs together. Btw, this was our thread. I don't know why you are making a mountain out of a molehill. YOU are not even mentioned in the song.

Rob,

I'm not making either a mountain or a mole hill out of anything.
I complimented the effort and wished you luck.
I'm trying to have fun too. Just as you.
I think that you owe me an apology for trying to shame me here.
You have injured my feelings.
Tell Marty you're sorry.

Now you see Marty, you did make a contribution

Where might this fit in Rob.....last verse middle verse...an extended verse bridge outro LOL

In from Houston there's a feeling hurt it needs apology
Some wouldn't care a wit like all the way from Germany
I'm not all bad so here's my answer all for what it's worth
Coming at you down to Texas from the Great White North

Oh and just now listened and v1 is almost exactly what I was hearing so that is magic...

I also like V2 but V1 it is for me....

Let's leave it up for a bit longer to wait to see if Dom and Tony want to partake in some foolery for the cause of our craft

In the meantime I'm listening over and over...this really works Rob. Kudos for helping execute this beyond what I was describing and thinking...the pre chorus is your specialty and you set it yp beatifully ,,,,might have gone or just a llittle more time, but the more time on it's own almost adds an aggressive element that works. In any case it makes the chous pop.

Not bad John. I would polish it a bit. What do you think about this?

In from Houston comes a feeling saying I owe apology
Some wouldn’t care at all, but now you’re asking it of me
I’m not all that bad, so here’s my answer, what it’s worth
Coming down to Texas from the Great White Northern earth

This could be used as a verse, probably V2 in a V1-V1-Pre-chorus-chorus-V3 ... structure.

Alternatively, in a slightly modified form it could be used as an outro:

[Outro]
In from Houston comes a feeling saying I owe apology
Some wouldn’t care at all, but now you’re asking it of me
I’m not all that bad, so here’s my answer, what it’s worth
From the Great White North to Texas…

We’re just all bad together
Whoa, we’re just all bad together

I like the outro idea better because I think Suno could nail it. But honestly, Marty is pretty pissed. I would prefer not mentioning him in this song. I'll leave it up to you because it's based on your song idea.

Real talk here...inquiring mind.

You are a couple of old guys who want to weaponize nonsensical songs over and over as a redress to me, Donald Trump, a mystery person who you two deem to be a fly and whoever else.

In all of your judgments of me and others and virtue signaling, have you considered how much of your time you spend writing petty get-even songs...and what that looks like to a prospective visitor to the site who wants to take songwriting seriously...or a therapist?

You two busy-bees are not apart from the problem, you are clearly and inarguably an ever-present part of the problem here. As am I, but I don't kid myself about it.

QUESTION:
Do you all think that I am truly angry or disturbed about this nonsense?

Step back and think about it...
Am I going to be real concerned that a couple of grown men spend their time writing school-girlish get-even "songs" about me or anything else?

Please answer. This is fascinating.

Did you see my change Rob as you were here when I was

In from Houston there's a feeling hurt it needs apology
Some wouldn't care a wit like all the way from Germany

naw he's ok now. Known him for some years now. He's not pissed at all ....though he did not like being lumped in the the voter fraud believer crowd I think...
Was not a jab at him as much as the irony of thinking if "voter fraud had not occurred Trump's second term would be over"

I can easily change anything.

Is this a get-even song about Marty?

I was given a link to your songs on two sites by someone who said that you were derogating me on Muse and SF. I took a look and decided that they were likely right, even though the lyrics were veiled. The veil is lifting further on this thread.

I took a look at that for that reason, but am rarely interested in your songs.
Sorry.
So no, I do not know what comments that you have gotten about this song on SF and don't care to look.

Tell me what they are if you like.

But also answer the question...
Do you really think that these nonsensical songs by two grown men somewhere out there on the internet are earth shaking to me?

If the answer is yes...why would they be?

Please answer directly.

Bedtime. Gonna do a little reading on Thomas Jefferson and go to sleep. Will check back in AM.

I didn't like the reference to Germany. It's already in V1. Two weeks ago I went to neighbor's birthday party here in Cape Coral, Florida. There were around 15 people there. All Americans and the interesting thing was, I was the only Floridian. I spend a couple of weeks every summer in Germany to escape the heat here.

Please tell me exactly what you want me to change. Once the track is done I'll gladly send you the song via Dropbox. It was a pleasure collaborating with you once again. I have to admit, I love the song and I also like Blue Rodeo. Once again... I learned something new and that's why I like to collaborate with other songwriters.

The only tweak might be some steps to the outro...came a little abruptly I thought....and maybe one more musical bar out?

and totally understand about the Germany reference...I just thought it a clever rhyme ....and it seems Marty is having some digestion issues just now,

When he comes to the realization it is about bringing ideas and concepts alive through music....in this case our own dysfunctional behaviour....he may come around.

Marty,
You’ve described my songs as “nonsensical,” yet other songwriters have responded quite differently, for example:
“An excellent piece of social commentary written in an easy flowing style.”
“Lost count of the brilliant phrases used throughout the song—well done.”
“You have a real talent for this genre.”
"As others have said already, really strong lyrics with some nice twists. I enjoyed this."

The idea that I’m writing song over song “as a redress” to you is simply not accurate. You’re not the focus of my work, even if you choose to interpret it that way. Btw, who gave you the link to my songs?

You also continue to bring up the “Fly” song. It uses a general metaphor and doesn’t name anyone. Interpreting it as a personal attack is your assumption.
At the same time, you’ve made direct comparisons between people here on this site and things like cancer. That feels like a clear double standard. Shame on YOU!

I’d prefer to end this discussion here, as the ongoing accusations aren’t constructive.

Marty, this song started with the observation there is a collossal lack of grace extended here...and that no one was individually all bad here.

And it is partially about you and everybody else.

As far as superlatives, these forums pass them back-and-forth like candy.
Someone on muse wrote that my song was "possibly" the best ever uploaded to that site. I was appreciative, but completely aware that people such as you, who make comments about their own songs such as, "I love what I wrote," would not be agree with that comment.

My assumption was that the person and I shared a "wavelength" regarding a certain type of love song, and in his opinion, my song might have been the best ever posted.
Though flattered and appreciative, I took the comment in context.

This is not a social commentary site, rather a songwriting site. It's not the political news media here. It's amateur songwriters here.

The bar for social commentary is low.

The comments you cite are likely coming from the like minded, not the truly informed or objective. I advise against letting it go to your head.

Another comment-er once characterized a song of yours as "saccarin-ish." (sp) I took that too mean excessively and blatantly ARTIFICIALLY sweet. In Seinfeld-speak, it was dripping with "Schmoopy-Boopy" in a disingenuous manner.

I agreed with that. Do those two opinions become the final assessment of your song?

MOST IMPORTANTLY.

In the quote above is the word "commentary."
Comment-ary posted to a public forum invites commentary on the comment-ary.

Opposing and otherwise.

So when you put up your commentary, don't whine foul if I exercise my prerogative on this site to post my reaction to them.

As for Starfish,
I think that Kay-Lynn sincerely wants it to work. I hope it does for her.
I think that you and your commentary are poison to any songwriting site.
If I challenge your "commentary" there, it will become a toxic feature.
I've no desire to spread the disease.
So, enjoy having STARFISH as your little platform to express Robby's little inner world to the amateur songwriters world...without challenge.

In other news,
For a day or so, no one has referred to God's final damnation or called anybody a cu*t here...so you and John have the spotlight for your....

Have a good week.

Hey I think it is good to go...think you tweaked those parts....if you just send a link to the file via email, I can download directly

And it is easy to collab with you ...thank you for that.

I can start working on the video and maybe there will be an inspirational contribution before it is done.....does sound like Marty is pissed though...guess I was wrong.

Oh and I see you know Michelle Gedney....wonderful musician and person....I know her through Dar Williams and her songwriting retreats. Michelle is one of her organizers and a talented songwriter and musician.

Hey John,
I just sent you the link. Let me know if you have any trouble downloading the file. Once again, it was a pleasure working with you. The song sounds great. Even Marty called it “powerful stuff,” and that says a lot.
Most of all, I really enjoyed the collaboration and learned something new in the process.

As for Michelle Gedney, I don’t think I actually know her - at least not that I’m aware of.

All the best,
Robert

LOL I hit your Facebook friend button (as Postel Hoek) and Michelle is a "mutual"....with the likes of Brian and Michael Z ....

A singer songwriter Hudson Valley way....lives across from West Point. She and her husband Rick (dec) were "Open Book" . Rick was also a gifted painter

And the wav file is now on my desktop. Was in my Dropbox popup notice when I came back from the pool just now.

Thank you for helping turn this out. It sounds awesome in my biased books...

John

I'm going to try to defog you here. Please try to follow.

#1 There is no diatribe. There is a stated opinion. You and Robby don't like my opinion, and it filters through your brains as a diatribe, but that is due to your inflamed hormones, not mine.

#2 You and Robby are tag-teaming here and contriving this art form...which you state...makes reference to me. I'm gonna respond at whim.

#3 Robby continuously comes back with robby-centric views.
As he does, I endeavor to cast them in a more realistic light.
If you don't like it, tell him to stop.

There you go.

John, what you're doing is a waste of time. Marty said clearly how he thinks. He wrote that the comments other songwriters made about a song he didn't even hear "are likely coming from the like minded, not the truly informed or objective". He's basically saying, anybody who doesn't agree with what he thinks is not informed or not objective.

We all have the right to form and share our own opinions. Sometimes it seems that not everyone is equally comfortable with that. This isn’t uncommon - similar attitudes can be found in many areas, including US politics.
