Hello folks,
THis company claims to be the online leading copyright service. As a third party, they provide you with a time stamped certificate immediately upon upload of songs. Their claim is the copyright office doesn't really copyright your song they register it as do they. Unlimited uploads for $99 or 20 uploads for $69. Like the concept but cant find any feed back online. They are a division of [b]Smash Song.com [/b]a licensing company, not sure if there is conflict of interest but would appreciate any feedback on legitimacy of or advice before using. Thanks in advance.

Totally unnecessary. Do it yourself with form ECO at the copyright office on line. Up to 50 songs for $35.

I agree, that service, as described, is worthless and preys on ignorance. Smart of you to ask for more advice.

Nope. Tell us what they are offering and we'll tell you if it makes any sense or is of useful value to the general population of songwriters.
By the way, your Copyright is a right and is thus free. You don't need any company to be involved to have one. Anyone inserting themselves into something already free is a scam if they want money. All you need to do is fix it to a tangible medium. Good bookkeeping on your part is useful (when you wrote it, previous revisions, any live performances with dates, locations and some audience names is a solid portfolio of info you can keep yourself as you write for many purposes later. Registering with the Government (the only OTHER thing to consider) does not give you the copyright you already have, it simply allows for different options and legal abilities in collecting damages for example. Always a good idea to use them if you have an album finished or are playing live regularly.
Keep your money in your pocket.

The only copyright that can be used in court is the one registered with the U.S. Copyright Office. Although copyrights are useless today. I wonder how Suno and other AI apps copyright the AI songs???

John AI Overview You can't copyright music created entirely by AI because copyright requires a human element. To copyright AI-assisted music, you must show significant human authorship and disclose the AI's contribution during the application process with the U.S. Copyright Office. Document your creative process, understand the AI tool's Terms of Service regarding ownership, and consult with a copyright lawyer for guidance. Why You Can't Copyright Pure AI Music Human Authorship Requirement: U.S. copyright law requires a human creator for a work to be copyrightable. AI as a Tool vs. Creator: The U.S. Copyright Office has registered works where AI was used as a tool, like a special vocal model, but not for works generated solely by AI.. its only a tool , You would have to record it your self to be a copyright candidate. its good for stealing a melody and production ideas like you stole from Bach , Same Same. Same on https://chatgpt.com I guess recorded by humans to be candidate for copy write. I'm guessing on that , It writes songs , it's a good tool. 🎶 "Bach Blues" (Key: A minor — Slow blues) [Verse 1] I woke up with a fugue in my head, Notes dancing 'round the things I never said. That cello line cut me clean in two, Bach wrote the tears, now I’m cryin’ them through. [Verse 2] Counterpoint heartache, harmony pain, My soul walks a bassline soaked in rain. He never knew me, but he knew this ache, Each broken chord's a new heartbreak. [Chorus] I got those Bach blues, playin’ soft and low, In a minor key, where the lonely go. No preacher, no sinner — just a ghost and a tune, Waltzin’ with shadows under a harpsichord moon. [Verse 3] Preludes and promises, all fade away, In the silence where the organ used to play. Love’s just a canon, round and round, 'Til the theme disappears, without a sound. [Bridge] Can’t drink away a Brandenburg night, Or bury the pain in a well-tempered light. I tried to improvise, but I played it all wrong, Lost in the pages of an unwritten song. [Chorus] I got those Bach blues, and they’re dressed in black, Dancing through shadows that won’t dance back. From Leipzig to Memphis, that sorrow still flows, Where baroque meets the bayou, and the minor key grows. [Outro] So play me no sunshine, don’t lift the gloom, Let the basso continuo fill the room. With these Bach blues, I’ll drift and sway, 'Til the music takes this hurt away.

Whether Suno claims a copyright or not. They set their conditions of their stolen material:
"AI-generated tracks on Suno do not automatically grant ownership of the creations. If you use the Basic plan, Suno owns the songs, and you can use them for non-commercial purposes.
If you are on a Pro or Premier plan, you own the songs, and you are granted a commercial use license."

John Well there ya go , Suno is robot songs not the artist , why bother with commercial use license Well if you sang it and used the stems from Suno , I suppose that would work . mix it yourself

With these Bach blues, I’ll drift and sway, 'Til the music takes this hurt away. Wrong. You CAN use Suno to produce a song by you that you wrote in full and own 100%. The moment I record my words and melody via a simple piano vocal recording, the question of copyright is resolved. Running it through Suno has zero effect on the copyright. It is like saying using a reverb somehow endangers your copyright. It does not. How it "colors" a production of your already copyright protect original work is irrelevant. Additionally, you do not have to register your song to have copyright protection. There are certain specific additional damages you can sue for in court only if you have a registration with the US Government, but you can actually register well after the song was protected (which happens the moment you fix your words and melody to a fixed, tangible medium. Ironically, Suno itself is a GREAT record of your copyright which is indisputable. Why? Because they have record of what you UPLOADED and what text you entered as a lyric and even additional prompts and text instructions you also added to guide production. A US Copyright registration is NOT proof of authorship. Now one checks or verifies you wrote anything you register. You could send in a Beatles song and get a registration. But in court, it would be exposed. All it is a "claim" by you that you wrote something. You have to produce more than that in court. It does do one additional thing for you. It shows on that date you CLAIMED you wrote something and if that pre dates someone else, that is a benefit in court for you. But it is zero proof you wrote it. That is subject to cross examination and the final opinion of a jury.

John A US copyright registration is no proof you wrote anything. I could send the Beatles in and get a registration on it. It does offer additional damages upon infringement, but you can register well after the fact and still get those extra benefits. Meanwhile, you will have to PROVE to a jury you wrote it, usually with oral testimony, previous recordings, performance dates, witnesses, and if you DID send it in for registration, that is a solid proof that you CLAIMED authorship on that date of the recording you sent in. Always a good idea when releasing an album to register the songs. No one who comes along later can then claim YOU infringed on them. But in the end, a jury will decide based on your testimony and theirs.
