Has anyone used Izotope Nectar Elements? It's on sale right now for $29 instead of $129, and I'm wondering whether it's worth having. I like Izotope products, but I wonder if it gives me anything that I don't already have in Neutron Elements. Nectar is specifically for vocals, but Neutron can also be used on vocals. Nectar also includes a de-esser, which could be useful, and pitch correction, which is probably less so as my DAW includes a version of Melodyne. Any advice?

Aw, yes,
I used that last century. HaHa.
I think this comes under the heading of more gadgets that will make you a star! Over on Gearslutz there are a slew of questions about this gadget and that gadget etc. that will make you sound better. And of course Studio Monitors and which one is the best. If you want it and you like it buy it. But don't be disappointed if something makes you actually sound worse before you got it.

Ray, if you think you used it last century, you may be confusing Nectar with a neck tie, and quite possibly wore yours too tight over extended periods smile

Eh,
You have 29 bucks Gavin. Buy it! Then after you have tried it out you can tell all us if it it is any good. However, my advice. Save your money.

The kind of advice you suggest I offer after buying it is the kind of advice Iím asking for before I buy it from someone who has bought it, putting them in the position to offer advice that I would attain should I buy it. Clear?

Well,
To be factual if this program is for you to make demos and the system you are using now, I guess, is satisfactory why buy another? There is at least one free program, Audacity or was you can try. People have also talked about Reaper, not sure about it either. I don't have a Music Program Sometimes you just have to take a chance on something. It is one of the things that makes life interesting! I would guess the program is no better than several others out there, and may be a disguised copy of another program. When I was doing electronics repair I would occasionally see the same chassis with a different brand as it was common for a company to use the same chassis with a different name and seller.

Ray, the good thing about Izotope products is that they tend to present an easier way to do things like combine EQ, compression, exciter, etc. in one intuitive interface. It makes things easier and quicker, especially for those of us who are not sound engineers. It's a plug-in to programs like Reaper. I'm just looking to hear anyone's experience with it in the same way as I might when considering the purchase of anything.

It's probably better to take product advice from someone who not only knows what it is, but uses it. It's a gamechanger, especially for $29. Buy it.

I use it on every vocal track. I can either use the Vocal Assistant to suggest settings, or I can call up one of many presets. From there, I adjust to where I want it to be. Or I can just open it and make my own settings. What is wonderful about Nectar is that it dials you in very close to an excellent vocal sound, right down to the harmonic overtones, without wasting time, and then it's a lot faster to find exactly the sound you want.

Twenty nine bucks. Do it!

I have had the Elements version for about a year, and right now I am seriously considering taking this deal to get the full Nectar 3 as well as VocalSynth for $149: https://www.pluginboutique.com/deals/show?sale_id=5587

Thanks Mark. Ray's advice was somewhat lacking in specificity. I have bought it and will report back when I've had a chance to try it out.

Well, I got it, and I'd have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed. I think perhaps the full version might be more useful, but the problem I have with the Elements version is that it's all a bit opaque regarding what's actually happening. I find I can do more with the vocals preset in Neutron.
