10,000 Miles The Differenz Terrier Studios Kate Berlin, Robert Malin, William Brilmayer
This was the first tune we posted here on JPF. It got four reviews we assumed because no one knew us. If you listen closely, it is structured kind of weird, which we like. My brother and his wife, having exhausted all of their adoption possibilities in the US, traveled to Romania to find their infant son and daughter. The ensuing song describes the adventure... Please forgive us. We will not be back in the studio til after Christmas...Also, when everything was finished and this song was in the "can", we found there was water dripping at the end. It is still a mystery how it got there and where it came from... Diff

Lovely song and great story to it delighted for your brother and his wife must have been a wonderful moment for them hope they're all keeping well.
Your song pictures a sad place overthere but also a happy beginning for their son and daughter.
Really nice song.

Hi Diff,
What a very cool way to tell a heart-breaking AND a heart-warming story, all rolled up neatly into one! I loved how it so expertly took my emotions on a roller coaster ride...sounds great ... neat song!

Well, beyond your usual great production and vocals, this is an uplifting story -- something we can always use more of.
Your lyric wonderfully captured the story.

Hey, Pat...
Thanks so much for the listen. If I remember correctly, my partner Kates son played the mandolin on this song including the solo. This is also one of those works that took some amount of research before just hauling off and writing, including several conversations with my brother Marc about his first-hand experience. I think it has been fascinating to watch two Romanian infants being raised as Americans. The two are currently over twenty years old...

Hey, MLB...
Thank you for the interest. The children were adopted as infants and they are both now over twenty years old. It has been fun to watch...

Thank you Ben for spinning this. I am curious to know if you heard that drip of water after the ending...? The chorus was also a bit different where the acoustic guitar mimiced the bass. and the bass being played harmonically...Thanks.

I listened again and noticed the guitar and bass in the chorus.
I also heard the drip. It could be a finger on string noise, or maybe a "click track" bleeding through.

http://www.reverbnation.com/thedifferenz/song/19700970-10,000-miles Are you English? Kind of sounds like Graham Nash, with CSN in there Not crazy about that swirling effect on your voice, chorus/flange? But it's cool, can always expect something unusual sounding when i click your tunes.

Nice work, Diff and Crew:
An uplifting yet sad storyline... further impacted by todays killing in Ferguson, Missouri of a Romanian legal immingrant when four young hoodlums attacked and killed him with a hammer in plain view of his wife. When will the "hands up" brainwashed masses understand that without the rule of law, we are in danger of losing the race relations so many have tried to mend and blend during the last decade or two. Shame on the NFL's Rams Football Teams by demonstrating the "Hands Up" solidarity stunt. The NFL has enough problems of its own with bad actors and players who understand nothing about sportmanship.
I wonder if Racemonger, the Right Reverend Pruneface Sharpton will rally the masses against this "hate crime?" I won't be holding my breath. May the Governor of Missouri have learned a valuable lesson regarding deployment of the National Guard. So many businesses there could have been saved.
By all means, demonstrate if you must... but keep it peaceful and repect the rights of those who disagree.
On a lighter side of this wide spread issue, it was refreshing to see a Police Officer and a young black man exchanging hugs at an event in another city. Forget, forgive and move on. Without the police, we would live in chaos and anarchy.
As a nation, we have events and happenings all across the world that make this story (Ferguson Missour Riots) a third page filler.
I'd rather see a common front against ISIS... even if it nvolves US Boots on the ground to wipe these sniveling cowards out. If you can't send troops, Mr. Obama, send Eric Holder over there and let him learn a valuable lesson. While Obama is "at it"... he needs to begin action to either straighten Turkey out or remove them from NATO. They have dishonored our visiting sailors and betrayed the Kurds.

Lol, Dave being in the NY/NJ area I've heard from Rev AL for too long. Many believe he instigated the riots while pretending not to be. How is this guy a Reverend?
I guess he feels it's somebody else's job to stick up for other races. I wouldnt even mind that, if he was honest about it.
The Rams players were just doing what they THINK is right. Of Course, they were wrong.
Obama is right though, we need body cams on cops. Lets get rid of the he said she said, lets see it. Case Closed.

Thanks, guys. I didn't mean to stir up a political storm. It was just simply a family story. But I will agree that our fabric is wearing thin in this country. Everybody lies. Everybody cheats. Everybody takes advantage and hates. Strength and honor? Yah. We use to have that. Okay. Maybe we still do. But every year it thins out! And every year parenthood teaches less and less of the good stuff...

Hey, FJ...
Thank you sir, for the listen. We have moved our studio from Citrus Heights, California, to Tuscon, Arizona, and my partners are settling into their retirement home. So we are closer together in two desert towns within driving distance. Grand opening there will be 12/28 I think, and wow! are we ever backed up! Thanks for the support FJ...If I wanted to be a smart-ass I would say..."New music coming soon!" lol...

A nice heartfelt story. Good production and performance.
The lyrical structure is unusual as you mentioned but it works with the music you have written. I think this is a good example of why you need to write the whole song yourself or with your musical partners because if you had sent these lyrics to a demo studio, you would never have got a result anything like this.

And you are exactly right about the writing and composing. We have been sharing our music with each other for such a long time that the really good ideas come forward quickly and efficiently while we are always plying them with creativity. Our compass seems to be "if it is fun for us it will be fun for others!"
