James,

Here is one thing you can do that I did. A few years back I did a version of "Sixteen Tons" an old Tennessee Ernie Ford hit from the 50's. It was written by a guitar legend named Merle Travis. Merle has a son named Thom Bresh, who is also a guitar legend, was Jerry Reed and Chet Atkin's favorite guitar player, and performs worldwide.

Thom is actually a friend of mine and recorded one of MY songs, called "The Grand Opening." Since it was going to be $75 for him to liscence my song from me and me to liscence his song from him, we just both waved the fees. And since he probably sold more copies than I did, it was a complete wash.

So maybe you can do that. Get whatever artist you want to cover to do one of your songs and then you can do your version of their song. Of course, if they are dead, you might have a tougher time. LOL!

Stranger things have happened.
