I was driving home last night trying to come up with a suitable analogy and heres what I found.

Copyright is like putting good tires on your car - If you have a junker that is just going to sit around in the yard or the garage, maybe get used for farm work every now and again, its probably not worth shelling out for those expensive tires.

On the other hand, if you're planning to take the car out on a race track around other people then you should bite the bullet and do what needs to be done.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether you song is a junker destined to sit around in the yard (and most are, even those of great writers!), whether its going to the Indy 500 or anywhere in between.

Be realistic, get feedback and play it smart and safe and treat it like a business, are you going to make enough to justify the $60 expense?
