In art, feel trumps everything else.

We musicians have four, or arguably five, elements with which to work: Pitch (high or low, C or Eb or indefinite), Volume (what's that? I can't hear you!!), Duration (how long the note or rest lasts), and tone (do you sound like a duck or a boat whistle?) then, arguably, sonance (a definite sound, though not a tone, such as the buzzing or squeak of a guitar string...but those of us simplificators add that to tone). Then, for some of us, we have language. With language it is a little easier to tell a story, but also easier to run out of stories. With pure music, we can tell the same story over and over, yet never repeat ourselves. And...feel trumps everything.

You've got to know your limitations. I don't know what your limitations are. I found out what mine were when I was twelve. I found out that there weren't too many limitations, if I did it my way. -Johnny Cash
