My opinion is that if the vocal and melody are intelligible, that is all that is required. EJ's "Tiny Dancer" could have been recorded on a RadioShack cassette and it still would be a hit. It's about melody and vocal period. Something I need exercise myself. they call it a "Hit" for a reason.
