Hey Joe, I'm WAY older than 12....but sorry, John Prine is not a household word to me. I don't follow the folk and Americana genre very closely, but that's OK. You guys don't need my approval and I'll take your word for it that he's that good (I did watch the Bonnie Raitt video, though - nice).
I hope you didn't think this is where I was coming from: "I think it is silly to think that the most talented people will naturally be discovered. Having talent, and having recognition are two separate things."
Of course. I know of several extremely talented people who, for various reasons, will never be "discovered".
My earlier point was only that I don't think the work an artist does while just learning their craft is their best.
