Hi Folks,

So I've been watching 2 new reality shows for the summer. Last Comic Standing and America You've Got Talent. LCS is done by the same folks who did Top Chef, a cooking show I must admit I really enjoyed. So far the weakest comics have been picked off in order, which is always a happy thing when you're watching a show like that. Nothing more frustrating than someone getting ripped off. So I think I will likely be in the for the long haul on that show.

As for Simon Cowell's America's Got Talent.. the show SHOULD be great.. but in reality is pretty weak on all levels. The judges are lamer than American Idol. The talent is sadly disappointing for the most part. But, there have been a handful of fun and enjoyable performances and one that was truly mind blowing tonight. And, we have another JPF member who has risen to the top of a Reality TV show.

Her name is Corina Brouder and she's from NYC. I first met her back in 1999 at one of our NYC Roadtrip Showcases where she performed with her brothers and sisters in a sort of Patridge Family meets the Sound of Music type of way. They were quite enjoyable and it was funny because here were these young kids singing in a Baggot Inn, a well known adult bar in Manhatten we did several shows at. She has since grown up (and wow.. is she attractive! She should probably be an actress or model if she loses interest in music). She performed playing the Harp and Singing. She's talented, but she didn't blow me away on the performance as much as I had expected. The judges loved her though and she's moving forward so now we have someone to cheer on if you watch that show.

But, the most amazing performance of the series so far happened at the end of the night. An 11 year old girl (I didn't catch her name unfortunately) gave perhaps the greatest singing performance of someone her age in history. She's a little red haired white girl, but she sang at Top Tier R&B Diva level that would have put Brandy (one of the judges) or Whitney or even Aretha on notice. I am not kidding about this. This girl could release an album tomorrow and I would buy it. I haven't seen such a jaw dropping performance from a kid in my life and she's as good as any pro level singer I've ever seen sing on TV. I am looking forward to the next show she appears on. If someone on that series has even 50% of her talent I will be amazed. She's that good.

On Awards news, we finished up Ambient and Techno and Theater/Stage tonight. Tomorrow we'll be plugging away on Compilation, Educational and Live albums. Round 3 is running 2 weeks late on being finished so we're working double time to get it done.

There are currently 73 genres/categories and well over 160 awards this year. We're also closing on in locking down an awards venue. (We have it down to 2 locations.. one costs twice as much as the other which is the reason for our hestitation.. but it's very cool.. we're trying to figure out how to lessen the financial risk).

It's been a long long day.. so I thought I'd write the Blog now instead of after I get some sleep tonight. I also have to get a newsletter written tomorrow.

We should do a reality show on our awards process.. I don't know if they have enough video to shoot it all though..
