I sort of go along with that David. Only thing is, I look at it more as to how well the lyric works phonetically. How it fits and/or makes the melody, rather than wht the words actually say. Now I now I stand a good chance of being banned for life from the Lyricist's Of The World Federation for saying that, but the fact remains I rarely know what the lyrics of any song are unless I read them.
