Sticky Notes

V1

Hey, little man,

don’t say all that in your head.

But I do and I did,

“It’s just a deficit”

they said.

V2

“Now wait a minute,

the [naughty word removed] did you just say?”

Not a shot, like a spray,

no looking around,

no thinking twice, today.

Ch

And my tropes rain down like Sticky Notes,

I catch them on my tongue.

The voice of God, the wicked ones,

mixing water and blood.

No matter what you say to me

I can make it rain.

There’s an endless sea of Sticky Notes

in my brain.

V3

Methamphetamines,

underneath my tongue.

A kiss goodbye, a little high, a little numb,

Isnt school supposed to be fun?

V4

Almost there, I spit it out

so it don’t kick in,

“Can you be my friend?”

I’m on the ground, fists reign down.

Was it something I said?

Thoughts reign down like Sticky Notes,

I catch them on my tongue.

The choice is mine, mine alone

But I cant choose just one.

No matter what you say to me,

it’s prolly gonna rain

an endless sea of Sticky Notes,

in my brain.

Bridge

Saturday, Sunday

I’m free at last.

Running, playing

thinking fast.

The script, pre-written

I improvise,

playing the roles,

saying the lines,

alone with my tropes,

written on notes,

like cue cards

in my mind.

And they all fall down like Sticky Notes

I read them one by one.

Conversations in my head

dance around my tongue.

Every stimulation

sends a signal to my brain,

“Let it rain”….

Let it rain.

Just let it rain.
