The air was good. But I have watched this air stale over some 14 years... mostly, over politics.
This division isn't by accident, and it affects all of us.
Can't tell anyone this... I've tried. All I get is mockery and the feeling that I am absolutely not welcome. And now, a new group has emerged, and they don't even write out a full songs. Just half-measures allowing A.I to do the rest. The lyrics need no craft, because A.I can write a melody and produce a song from a page out of the Black's Law dictionary, if prompted. And yet they revel and rave with what they think they've created.

These internet music websites aren't even a shadow of what they once were. In fact, we are the shadows, Japov... for the children here to chase around with flashlights.

When I first met you over at SW101 (pre 2011 lol), I felt... I got the impression on that site, that BMI was actually "anti-DIY". It seemed to me that the "industry" didn't want people thinking that they could make their own music... or, you could, but it would never amount to anything. How many times did you hear MAB say, "The music industry is about relationships... it's not what you know, it's who you know. Without pro production and marketing, nobody will ever hear you."

That's not to mention the necessary "identity politics" and political correctness associated with membership.

Now, the "industry" has AI to contend with...

I believe it's the industry itself that's killing DIY sites. They just don't want capable musicians to have such a convenient place to gather. And they certainly don't want conservatives to have a voice...
