I live in the province of Newfoundland and Eh is not so much used as the word B'y , like saying, how are ya doin' b'y, b'y is short for boy, not meaning any disrespect, it's like some people using "man" in saying, "what's happening man". Now saying b'y have been misinterpreted as a put down by some mainland black people, until they realize it is a term of endearment, not an insult. We have a reputation of talking fast and people have a hard time understanding us, but we tell them it is not so much us talking fast, it is that they just listen too slow.
