This one pays homage to what is often referred to as Foot in the Mouth Disease

ME AND MY BIG MOUTH

c2020 Brian Beecher

Me and my big mouth travel together
Get us in trouble in all kinds of weather
Just when confidence and drive are on display

Someone may offer us a chance to join forces
But then my mouth burst through like a team of wild horses
And at just the right moment to spoil the day

When communicating joy and wisdom with others
My mouth drives away all their sisters and brothers
And a not too pleasant price we have to pay

When there’s time alone to give to the body
My mouth tells me no and makes things seem shoddy
And threatens the whole need for feeling free

Taking time out to meditate and reflect
May be just what I need when it’s time to assess
All the damage that my big ol’ mouth has cast me

I may then have relationships on the brain
It is then that my mouth causes the greatest pain
And more often than not the other person lost me

On the town I may be looking for some fun
And excitement for a party of one
Spending the time with friends might have been part of the plan

I may feel attractive and want to express
My sexuality but it’s put to the test
The mouth won’t give me permission to play, love and laugh

Early in the morning I may feel restless
Knowing that my big mouth is gonna get careless
Leaving me unsure of what direction to take

It’s possible that an old way of thinking
And communicating with others is sinking
When my big mouth tells me how I should relate

There may be turbulence in my relationship
Me or my partner may be scared out of our wits
When my big mouth gets involved it’s not the same

Worried about what’s to come and to change and grow
But my mouth says the pace of change is too slow
It just doesn’t understand life’s crazy game
