I use an AT mic (4047) and Steady Eddie uses a Blue and we both get excellent results. They are different models but I think the brands are reliable.

OTOH, I would not recommend a USB mic. I think there are issues with trying to monitor what you have recorded and recording along with it if you go the USB route. I think you would be better off with a modestly priced interface from M-Audio or similar and a regular condenser version of the mic. There are a number of simple interfaces for around $100 with decent pre-amps built in.
