I actually started writing this in 2005 and did a rewrite in 2010. I thought it was time I posted it.
Blackberry Winter
1. There weren't any blackberries last summer Though we enjoyed those sunny days in February The trees began budding, there were shoots of green growing Then the icy winds came with the cold And blooms folded with their tales untold It's a Blackberry Winter A Blackberry Winter.
2. My daughter is in kindergarten She began one golden day in September Then we buried my father at the end of December Oh, I remember how they loved each other here A cup of laughter mixed with our tears It's a Blackberry Winter A Blackberry Winter.
Bridge When life tastes like honey Both sweet and bitter It's a Blackberry Winter A Blackberry Winter.
Repeat v. 1

Hey Vondelle,
That's very sweet. My father passed back in the winter of 1988 and my nephew and niece were about the age for kindergarten. I was just very happy they got to know their grandfather at all. I never knew my grandparents but watching the wonder in their eyes as they both sat in his lap was magical.
I'd love to hear this on to music.
Best days, Bryan

Vondelle, Honey is sweet, not sweet and bitter, though there's a reference in the Book of Revelation to a book sweet as honey that is eaten and goes bitter in the stomach. Should be an easy fix.

Hi Brian,
My mother-in-law died when my youngest daughter was in 1st grade back in the fall of 2001. That's where I got this from.
Maybe I'll have to post it on the mp3 forum if I make a good recording.
Thanks, Vondelle

Hi Dan,
Very good point. My oldest daughter suggested wine because some wine is both sweet and bitter....
Thanks for the feedback.
