Hello, This seems like a great place to meet talented people! I'd love to get some feedback on song content and any ideas one might come up with on how to market this song. I've got a few things in the works with an acoustic tour. I sure would like to expand my Rolodex:-) with thoughtful, talented people. I'm from Muncie IN, currently staying in Nashville, TN. Thanks JPF Newbie No More War.mp3 by Steely James www.steelyjames.com

I think the music you have for this one sounds pretty good. But it is very dark -- even when you are talking about the peace/family stuff. After awhile it was a little too drone-like for me.

I usually like to see the lyrics typed out, but I'm doing fine following along. Minor but I LIKE minors and I am not minding the banjo either which says something. LOL This is something I would buy on iTunes. Nicely produced - excellent work. ![[Linked Image]](http://img34.glitterfy.com/11188/glitterfy1145643525D32.gif)

I think I actually really liked the droning quality of the song. Normally war/peace kind of songs bother me because they seem so cliche. But I really enjoyed this. The rolling drums in the chorus were amazing, and I loved the bilingual nature of the lyrics. very cool tune

Steely,
Welcome!
Posting lyrics is always very helpful.
I like the sound of this and especially like the harmonizing parts.
I feel the lack of high end instruments/voices. I think if you could offer a bit of relief and pull the song up in a few places, it would make the low part more emotional and effective, if the entire song is so dire and depressing with no moment to pull back, the plunge into the despairing is less effective.
I like your voice and think the mixing is very good, it was nice learning about you.
Tammy

Well Steely, you certainly have your own style and it is pretty interesting.
For me, the lyrics would have helped a lot. I ehecked out your site and wished the same thing there.
Good luck with us here at the Plain Folks.

Love the layering and mix. I liked the octave harmony in the verses but thought you could have given the story a glimmer of hope in the chorus and eliminate the drony octave harmony and the feeling it invoked.
But still, excellent performance all around. Real drums? If not, what?
Nice work.
I checked out your other tunes...really dug Understand.

This is a cool jam.I feel like Andrew J. as he said about war/peace songs as does political or songs of terrorists acts,i usually won't listen to them but this caught me from the begining to end.Rock on!Mojo

Hi I'm with Zeek in that I think you need to change to one voice for Either the chorus OR Verse maybe...... it needs that kind of variation Love the music and music Mix all the way - the vocal change is what I was waiting for. Good work and chant ! jm

If it were me I would stick with the dual voice in the chorus, thats just me though. Nice job on the build!

Steely--
I like the message a lot--the rhythm is COOL--JMHO you start with a Banjo --shorten it some and have a louder higher vocal with the Instrument and let it drop into the DRONE sound--Have to get the listener PULLED IN, THEN SOCK IT TO 'EM!
Keep working on it!
I'm here in Nashville also--have been for over 50 years --TOUGH TOWN!
Write and Play on!

The printing of the lyrics really helped me appreciate the song a lot more. I liked the darker tone of the song as well but wished that you would have included at least one break out section, maybe a bridge, where the anger that seems to loiter throughout this piece eventually explodes into some yelling. I loved the banjo and the timing of the song is obviously excellent. The harmonies were also very good. Nicely done.

I listened to it a couple times, because I really liked it! That vocal really took me by surprise... because the music made me think it was going to be some sub-genre of country, but the vocal and musical sounds really fit together well, the way you've done it. I'm not sure just anyone could have pulled this sort of thing off! Those minor chords seemed so perfect to me!
I really like the lyrics, the message of the song, and I thought the 2 languages was a very interesting twist. As much as I loved it, I did start thinking it seemed long... and I suspect I thought that because there was no break-up on the vocal, like others have mentioned. But you sure have some talent! Welcome aboard, Steely!

First of all, welcome to JPF! I gave it a few listens and I really like your vocal style. Loved the banjo and the harmonies. The song itself was a little dark for my taste. Are you open for possible collaboration? Send me a message if interested.
