"Not Only In My Dreams" http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=2898765Just for those wondering what I did 20 years ago. Had Steven Tyler in mind then for Aerosmith taking this on, (yeah,,,as if!) Johnny 20 years older now? >>> Yikes!

I wish I had been writing songs 20 years ago! You have a cool sound and you construct songs well. Thanks for sharing.
You could easily re-do this song today in a more "organic" manner and it would fit right in.

Very pretty Johnny, but I definitely don't here it as a Steve Tyler type song even for 20 years ago. I'm trying to think of an artist/band that this would fit???? It's appealing. Thanks for sharing. Best, Lynn

Stevie, Glad you "caught" it! The orchestration, which I Loved to do, is not that hard for anyone to do, as long as we have counter melodies in mind, coming and going. Thanks! Kevin, Been writing for more than twice that 20, glad to say. (for just living that long to be doing anything for 46 years)! (I'm 58). More dumb songs than not, I think, looking back to many of the early ones. So, I was a slow learner. Wasn't till I was 26 that I started to learn how to write better songs, (through Buddy Holcombe's guidance). Thanks! Tammy, Thanks! Here ya go. 1st Verse: Every night you appear, wanting me again I can hear your voice Like I knew it when I was your man I don't know what is real I still feel the beat of your heart Want you here not there Not only in my dreams (Instr). [2nd "Half" Verse]: I can see your eyes They tell me, babe, you're in love Want you here not there Not only in my dreams [Bridge]: These wasted nights, these lonely nights I lye waiting for you We should be together through these years [Last Verse, same as the first!]: Every night you appear, wanting me again I can hear your voice Like I knew it when I was your man Time takes, time slips slowly by Want you here not there Not only in my dreams (Not only in) Not only in my dreams Lynn, Thanks! Keep thinking! It would need a pretty band then!

OH, Paul McCartney is who you write for Johnny Or Elton would do great by this one too. Still I like YOU doing it. Great job. Also we noticed today Tyler musta had some "necessary work done" as his face doesn't look over 45, he's 62, and looking a little uh, stretched. LOL Kudos to everyone aging gracefully. Linda

Um -- Johnny - - if you might indulge me for when I feel better -- I'm hearing some high female BG harmonies as I listen, could I give it a try? Send me an AIFF/WAV file by YouSendIt or somethin'? See my email under my profile - if you like... thank you -- if not no feelings hurt But I'm curious how our voices might blend. L

I write for Paul or Elton?,,,Ha ha!! But thanks. Of course, I would love to hear your backing vocals on this! I might have someone remix it firs though, and make it less crowded and cleaner overall. (I got carried away a lot back around 91), when I first got the 488 portastudio I still have). So I'll send the remix, or if not remixed too soon, this original version. Have Fun! And thank you for offering your time and talents for one of my songs. Maybe we can talk Sub into helping with the remixing and logistics! (My ears are full of fluid in the inner ear now more than before, and I'm going to U of Penn this Monday for hopefully some successful surgery. (They might have to do it at some other time, if this virus is not wanted to be around for any procedure. So, if this takes some time, don't think I forgot about your cool offer, OK? Up now for this pain woke me up after about 2 hours sleep. (nightly for two weeks so far). Plenty of meds to have killed any bacteria, and a steroid to relieve any inflammation. But it's the same. Torture, as the Tinnitus is louder than before too. (So please do accept some time of getting to this for you). I am looking forward to your work on this. I can imagine what you might be hearing too! Especially in the beginning in the bridge, when I attempted the highs for the backing vocals. The trick for you will be to have the sound of your recording not sound too new or good! Ha! Maybe being farther away from the mic than usual, with some hall reverb to make up for the volume loss, and some Eq on the high mids and high? ??? Have fun trying to match my old, bad recording! Hopefully it can be remixed and cleaned up a lot. I may have over mastered back them and even during the years here, there and everywhere. Wait a minute!,,,,No doubt that's the case. Very new to me then, recording. Thanks again! Very cool of you

No rush on anything ........ I'm behind on "stuff" I want to sing too. I keep hearing things & going "I wanna sing that!" and the list keeps growing... haha
First, I need to be able to download it... LOL. I couldn't find a button on this one right off.
Let me know how things are going - send me a PM if need be :)I forgot to 'watch' this topic so just now caught your reply!

Johnny , I really enjoyed the listen and performance .
I really like your musical arrangements . Very nice .
If You consider to re- mix why not consider to re- record some of the instrumentation as well .
All the best Jan

Best Wishes & Big Folks-Hugs, Stan Thanks Stan! U of Penn didn't do any surgery as I was hoping. Too risky with me being a musician and piano tuner,,,(although I am not able to tune many pianos if at all now anyhow). Thanks too for your comments. I'll be working on the lyrics more. Roon and Sub are helping with some.
