Hi Guys and Gals I finally thought it was time to join one of these clicksound or cloudface sites that everyone seems to be on. This is the first track that I've uploaded there and it's called Pacific Highway. It's an epic instrumental with a full live kit and lots of guitars. I think Steely Dan are to blame for this as I've been listening to a lot of there stuff of late. http://soundcloud.com/m0rk/pacific-highwayKind regards Andy

Andy,
I loved listening to this, a really great sound, I was surprised that you chose to fade at the very end, for some reason, that wasn't what I expected of the music at the very end. That is just my opinion based on the journey where this sound took me. It is like swimming to the finish line and sinking instead of jumping out of the water and grabbing the medal.
This is awesome stuff, but I'm a fan, so I'm a little biased. Thanks for starting my day off right.

Andy,
You should be writing soundtracks for movies. I know you said you wrote this after listening to a lot of Steely Dan. I heard more of a Santana influence than anything else. Maybe that's just me. Either way, it is the kind of tune that makes me want to get in a convertable on a cool moonlit night, turn the sound way up, and just drive. Excellent!

Not sure which. Steeley Dan or Santana, but I bet you could hold your own with either... ok, who are you really? I think "Andy" is a cover, lol..

Thanks for the listen guys. I'm very pleased with how this track turned out I think my mate Stu nailed the drums and Tammy is spot on about the fade out. Louis you crack me up man.

Pretty nice playing there Andy (or whoever you really are!). Good composition, too. Sounds more like Steely Santana to me. Cool all the way around.

Awesome musical experience there, Andy. Definitely feels like soundtrack material to me - although cranking it on the car stereo will work just fine as well Scott

Andy,
I really enjoyed listening to this tune! Very well played and well produced. I hope you know how fortunate you are to have a real drummer at your disposal. And yes, Stu definitely nailed it! If I was a jogger, I think that this would be a good song to use to get the blood pumping! Very energetic!!
No suggestions, except for I agree about the fadeout and I did hear a few places where some words could have been sung. But it's also great just the way it is!
Thanks for sharing! -Paul

Welcome to SoundCloud, Andy.
I was well into annotating your track on the site before I remembered to come back here and say that stuff on JPF.
It's a very dramatic piece with some great performances. Quite proggy but also suitable for a soundtrack, I think.
My only criticism would be that it seems a little over-compressed and could perhaps do with more variation in that respect. Mind you, that can get exaggerated when the tracks are processed for live streaming on SoundCloud and similar sites. I've noticed how the waveforms on some of mine can look and sound far less dynamically varied than the original uploaded files after that's happened. Good thing about the Cloud, though, is you can upload a replacement file in the same place without it affecting your previous stats and feedback.

Hi,
I really enjoyed listening to this song, especially the long guitar intro - great job! I agreed with Tammy about the ending...

Hi Anady! Wonderful work here! It was fun, fast, and would be perfect for a drive in a convertible on a beautiful day. You write and compose very well and could easily be doing background songs for movies and such. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with this one!
Take Care, Jennifer

Hi Andy, just heard this. Blew me away man... you write incredibly powerful music. It's rare to hear such an accomplished guitarist these days who also writes great original songs.
I once saw Eric Johnson play live in Chicago, you are up there with him man. I mean that.
You totally rock, Andy -- album please! :-)

Andy, That guitar really wails and the rhythm section is propulsive. I am not a fan of this style of music but I enjoyed listening to this very well-done instrumental. Quite professional all the way around.

Hi Andy,
WOW! Very cool. I love Steely Dan and Santana but didn't really hear either. Believe it or not, I was feeling more Yes than anything, but you definitely have your own sound. Rock on!

What a fantastic groove. Good stuff, Andy. And yes, I do hear a little Santana in the mix. Hey, there even seems to be a touch of funk in the middle. Donna
