Hey Fellas,

Enough I think ?

Goran, you have just been baptised by fire. And by a very nice bunch of people, in a very not too subtle way.

Now. You, have one of 2 choices.

No1 - join in the fun, and realise you're not too special.

No2 - don't recognise that, and live in a world of delusion.

There is no-one being mean here. There is no-one putting you down.

In a professional world, those that need to do it, do. Those that are at the top of their professsion, don't. And they don't need to.

Chill, take your shoes off, and relax.

cheers, niteshift

Hi Goran,

welcome to JPF!
Every game has its rules. Number one: selling is a bit further along the way! Cause people don't give away their hard-earned money unless they have a very good reason to do so smile

I suggest you introduce yourself here and make friends before. You've come to the right place. I'll go and see your lyrics in a while and offer suggestions. But if you went to the Introduction forum and tell us more about yourself first?

You are quite welcome my friend. Call it initiation....call it babtism by fire....but ya' sort of asked for it, huh?

We all like and care about each other a whole lot here at JPF. You will learn that too. We have each other's interests at heart. You just need to watch and see how it all works around here.....and it WORKS....pretty darned well.

Consider yourself just another fellow writer...now you're one of us.

You'll get plenty of advice here Goran. I like the concept of your lyrics.

Someone said on another thread recently that “there's no such thing as perfection”. Though we all keep honing our skills towards that end.

Personally, I don't think perfection can occur without imperfection. Lyrics and music need the human vulnerability element to touch the heart. Passion often supersedes reason. And passion is what music making is all about.

Show your naked heart, and it will be as close to perfection as one can get.

Best, John smile

John....now that was plenty profound. I wish I would have said that....but then I couldn't because I am not YOU. Neither could you say what I may say. That is your point really, isn't it? We all have our particular feelings and emotions that must come out, bad or good in the attempt to touch even one somebody who may need it at that time. At least that's what it is for me.

That naked heart thing.....just beautiful.

I fear that your future lyrics will have to be inspired by disappointment.

I just don't think that business model is going to work. I haven't heard of anyone on the lookout to buy lyrics, ever! It is just not an occurrence that happens here. I see hip hop beatz for sale all the time at soundclick.com, but never lyrics.

The way to go might be to find an artist in your area that will compose music to it, perform it and get it on a CD. You would get royalties if it sold enough copies.

Serbia! One of my publishers sold a track of mine to a newspaper in Serbia. Always wondered how they used that track. Can't remember the name of the newspaper, but it had a circulation of 100,000.

Funny, the title of the track was "We Wish You a Creepy Christmas".

Welcome aboard Goran. The turbulent waters have subsided.

Welcome Goran from me.

I was so tempted to join in the friendly banter but found it more interesting to watch. laugh

One day hopefully Goran when you have got use to us and made your mark, you will no dought see someone else getting some friendly banter for a bold statement that they make, and you will think back and I hope that you will have a smile.

I did have a look at your song Goran and I will be straight with you.
I have my own style of writing and it's pretty simple at times and I find it hard to offer advice on someone elses lyrics if I don't feel the emotions of the song in a style that I am comfortable with.

My writing tends to say what I mean rather than use metaphorical

meanings, but I know that plenty here will go with what you write.

When I comments on a song, I feel the song first.

Anyway welcome again smile

and God Bless Roy and Helen

No Smiley faces yet?
wassa matta

See the bottom of this post?
A little box says 4 reply
That'll let you reply to a specific post
When you do that there's a bunch of stuff right above the box you type in.
That's where you get smiley faces, etc.

Hi- I just wanted to say welcome to Just Plain Folks.

When I first started writing, at a more serious level, I remember joining a site (unnamed) that said (claimed) they had A&R reps looking at our lyrics to buy them. I believed it because I had not done my homework and learned. I am still learning. This is not how it goes. Read songwriting books, take classes where available. Search this site about scams out there, and how to get your music heard, once it is a real fully produced song. It takes study, it takes time and if it happens, it will not happen overnight. You have to do it because you love it too.

The only way a song would "sell" is with music and a demo. Sometimes, it can be a really good home demo to give a lesser known artist an idea of how they could turn around and perform/record it, but often it must be professional. Now if you collaborate and offer writing credit with someone able to do that, and make a contract, then that can happen also.

I am not sure how it happened that you were able to "sell" "lyrics only" in your country. Does that mean now, that the person that paid you for it, if that someone were to take it, and make it into a song, and by some miracle, which it would be for most of us on here, a miracle, not just you, that it sold, then you would not make anything on it, because they have rights to it and you do not?

You must be careful and protect yourself on that level.

If I were you, I would post your lyrics, on the boards, and add your input and advice/comments to others music/and lyrics. Then once you are better known on the site as someone who will stick around, and is serious, then perhaps someone will come along and want to work on a lyric with you, by singing it and playing music.

I am not a musician and not a decent singer. Most of my music came from collaborations. It is something that has to happen through trust and friendship. It is a partnership and it will not happen when you have only posted 22 comments on the board, You are still very new here. smile

So all kidding aside, from some on here who are playing with you a bit, smile BUT mean well... they are just surprised by you're coming in and saying you are the best writer....etc. Many don't take well to that kind of ego.

Just post your writing...and critique 2-4 songs/lyrics for each one and only one a day, and join in. Learn from others. If someone takes the time to critique your lyric, which can take 30 minutes or more sometimes, don't just say thanks and nothing else. Be grateful for their time, and teaching or attempt at teaching. Be geniune and you will make friends here and learn in the process. And never say they don't know what they are talking about or say this lyric is perfect as is...you will never get much response that way. I have seen others come and go with that attitude. It is not a good thing to witness.

Best of luck to you and now immerse yourself into a really nice site with loads of talent, and learn, and be creative. wink

"This One's On The House"

Saw you walkin' down the street
Heard you knockin' on my door
Stranger, you're not the kind I wanna meet
'Cuz I've heard your pitch before

You talk like you got swagger
But dude, your mouth is throwin' daggers
And I've got some advice for you
Don't worry-
THIS ONE'S ON THE HOUSE

I'm not properly dressed
And I got no money
Sellin' is like a game of chess
Don't laugh
'Cuz it ain't funny
You made me answer my door
You might think my advice is a bore
But if you hear the sound of a tv set
Don't get upset
Just knock on someone else's door
Take my advice
THIS ONE'S ON THE HOUSE

Hi guys,

I sold lyrics ... once smile Pretty good money too!
I suppose the guy who paid me had no idea how things worked (or he had a budget and simply wanted to be generous)and as I didn't know much either, he offered me money and I took it.

Never happened again frown
Although my lyrics are better now. Should resume writing cr*p again ;D
