Hi Mark, they are indeed single coil pickups. All the circuitry works and it looks in almost unused condition - probably because I have so many guitars and I rarely ever used it. NOt even pick scratches, because I only play with my fingers. It's incredibly light and sounds quite different than most other common guitars. If I didn't have a hankerin' for a large body jazz guitar, this thin body one would've been perfect.
