Whatever was left of him is gone
he's just a hollow shell
Living each day in silence
wallowing in his private hell
Loneliness is his being
refusing to participate in life
Everything has gone downhill
since the day he lost his wife
He's waiting for the day
when the good Lords calls from above
When he can walk in heaven
hand and hand with his love
You could tell him he had a day to live
and he would not wish for a cure
Cause he's found living this life is hard
but even harder living without her
His emotions have all dried up
his tears long since swept away
Colors have faded from his sight
everything now is meek and gray.
He looks as if he's aged a hundred years
his old body bogged down his soul
He's become only half the man
he's lost the part that made him whole
He's waiting for the day
when the good Lord calls from above
When he can walk in heaven
hand and hand with his love
You could tell him he had a day to live
and he would not wish for a cure
Cause he's found living this life is hard
but even harder living with her.
