Whew my phrase "the lesser of two evils" was just a common phrase. I didn't literally mean "EVIL". lol. I don't have the right to point the finger at anyone and tell them their evil. Words will be chosen more carefully next time.

Naomi, Now that you know, you're stuck LOL. You've got to change That's what "cussin'" is. It is cursing. Placing a curse on someone, condemning them as evil and bound for, well...you know where Just remember, God's last name isn't Dam.

George Bush used approx. 750 "signing statements" which were used to effectively veto laws. The American Bar Association had a blue ribbon panel on signing statements that voted unanimously to: "oppose, as contrary to the rule of law and our constitutional system of separation of powers, a President's issuance of signing statements to claim the authority or state the intention to disregard or decline to enforce all or part of a law he has signed, or to interpret such a law in a manner inconsistent with the clear intent of Congress."http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signin...ge_W._Bush.27s_use_of_signing_statementsWikipedia? Hardly a reliable source.

We must push push push For Mr. Bush Bush Bush Because he knows what is best for us
For he is right right right he can fight fight fight And his vision thing is marvelous
Though the evildoers (now here I pause, notice even Bush didn't call them "evil" but "evildoers?" Hmmm anyway, back to the song)
Though the evildoers they all hate him They'd be dumb to misunderestimate him
So let us push push push For Mr. Bush Bush Bush And let him tear the Constitution to shreds.
-as sung by Mr. Willis' fourth grade class

Perfection! I get your point, of course, but can still appreciate a nugget of genius. Scott

No Kool Aid Mike. Was just having fun with your voice of reason. I wasn't exactly a Bush fan. Thanks for the song.

Nobody's perfect. That's the mistake people make when they worship other people. It's ok to admire other people, but when it gets to where you will overlook in them what you would not overlook in others, there is a problem. Look at all the people coming to Roman Polanski's defense. Would they come to my weird cousin Harold's defense? No. Problem.

it's not about democrat or republican this is about what it means to be a president, not a dictator, not a king, but a representative of the people according to our constitution and our laws. Our government has forgot whom they represent and if we fail we fail together if we succeed we do that together too.I don't have any problem with schools singing songs about Christmas or other holidays but when they start having the kids sing about a president that has consistanly acted like he was a king then I have problems with that and it don't matter what party affliation he or she is connected with.

it is our patriotic right or duty according to Thomas Jefferson to question our government about everything it does and hold them accountable for their actions

It has been interesting to read all the comments on this thread. Most of them tend to side with the parents. I would side with them no matter what person or party the song was about. I'm starting a new thread to discuss where reading the last posts led me. Thanks all.

When I heard about this story, my first thought was how could any teacher be so, well, dumb as to do this. But the death threats are much more troubling. What amazes me about things that come up like this, though, as they increasingly do because of the Internet, is how many people either overtly or through some vague rhetoric of association blame it on Obama. You can see it in this thread. Hitler youth, when's he going to be on billboards like other communist dictators, blah, blah, blah. I honestly don't remember anything like that with Bush or any other president. Just a couple of weeks ago on this forum someone posted an angry blog about the U.S. Import-Export Bank guaranteeing bank loans that were being used as part of an effort to drill oil off the coast of Brazil. Both the blog, which I believe came from the Wall Street Journal, and the poster and others here shoot off all this angry rhetoric about Obama investing in off-shore drilling in Brazil while opposing it here. But the bank members who made the decision were put there by Bush, and the bank -- which was designed to guarantee loans to make American products and services more attractive, generating American jobs -- is constrained by law from considering loan guarantee requests by any criteria other than financial. That's so the bank doesn't wind up making foreign policy. Obama demonstrably had nothing to do with it, but it's still making the rounds on the Web like it's evidence of some fuzzy one-worldconspiracy. Another recent example was Rush Limbaugh criticizing Obama for a study by the Centers for Disease Control suggesting that babies be circumsized as a health measure. Oh, Obama wants to tell you what to do with your penis. (No pandering to white male fears there.) As though Obama had anything to do with a CDC study. I think one reason is that people have been posting such wild nonsense about Obama since he began running -- the birthers and deathers and oh, he's a Muslim. No the anti-Christ. Blah Blah Blah. NaomiSue: If someone at your stepson's school objected to him bowing his head before eating, it wasn't the ACLU. The ACLU also, if you read the story you posted, had nothing to do with the criminal charges -- they came from the judge. Courts have held that schools as an organization and officials of those schools can't promote religion while children are in school, not that students can't pray or read the Bible or any other religious text. I wonder if you'd be opposed to that if school officials were promoting a religious view you don't agree with. The ACLU holds to its principles even when it doesn't agree with what's being said. Check out the Westboro case in the link below. Anyway, here's an ACLU site about some of their freedom of religion cases. Some of them might surprise you, since they wouldn't have made the right-wing Web scare machine. http://www.aclu.org/religion/26526res20060824.html

"If someone is truly a jerk, or truly is not deserving of any positive reply from you, polite indifference is the best response you can give. Do not insult. Do not slam. Do not follow the urge to be nasty. Simply be politely indifferent." –Brian Austin Whitney
